What should I ask for my Z4

Unfortunately, I’ve decided to sell my 2021 Z4 and was wondering what you all thought is a fair asking price. It has 31k miles and attached is the original sticker window with the options. Thanks!

I'd use a site like Autotrader or Car Gurus to get a ballpark of what dealers are asking for similar cars. Could also go the Carvana/CarMax route and see what they would give you.

Use Kelly Bluebook to get the private seller and dealer trade-in price so you have a ball park on price on neigotiation. It would be hard to sell it by yourself for sure cause people want tons of add-ons for the cheapest price (they would haggle for lower price if vehicle has fewer add-ons), and dealerships will always offer you the low end of trade in price cause they can and need to squeeze profit out of it. From my past experiences, Carvana always offers higher price than the other online car dealers.

Carmax can be very competitive.

Worthwhile to shop around a bit. ALGO gave me the most by far for my A5, while Autonation offered the most for my M340.

There is always BAT, if you aren't in a hurry. People will pay stupid prices for cars there. Especially if it has a turbo.

I would recommend taking the car to CarMax and getting a quote and also looking at Kelly Blue Book based on the VIN.

Also Carmax only hold their quotes for a 7 days so only go to them after you have all of the other offers in hand!

They don't haggle... but ... i like to use CarMax quotes as a baseline. It's only seven days, but there's nothing stopping you from going back again.

Yes, you can go back again but you run the risk of the price quote dropping because of rising interest rates and also more availability of used cars as the shortages for new cars are not as bad as during the pandemic when there were major supply chain issues.

It's car porn. Everybody wastes time on BaT.

I thought about it when selling my E89. Recent sales for equivalent cars (at the time) were mid $20k. But it does take a lot of time and effort to get through the BaT auction.

Black Book (what my dealer uses for trade-ins) valued it at about the same as BaT history at $25-26k. CarMax offered me $29,400. I took CarMax' offer.

I did the Autotrader route with KBB and a local dealer offered me 37k. Vroom was the worst. Carvana 34k

So I could buy the G29. It was a fun car to drive, had the sport package but it was a 28i, 4 cyl. without iDrive or PDC. So no real convenience features. The biggest issue was the space limitations both in the cabin and the trunk, especially with the top down. And there was that nagging concern that the roof control wiring harness could fail. Not impossible to fix, but very labor intensive.

And there was my wife who really likes the G29. More space and all the latest features. And I could upgrade to the M40i. And getting almost $30k for an 8 year old car that cost me less than $50k made the numbers palatable.

It really can down to safety. Although, it’s a fun car and I thoroughly enjoyed it, my GF had severe whiplash from the accident. With everyone on their cell phones up here, I just don’t feel safe in it anymore.

Ah, sorry to hear that. Depending upon the severity of the accident, it can negatively affect the resale value.

Yup. That’s why I’m filing a diminished value claim against his insurance after it’s fixed.
