Thanks for the feedback. FWIW the Conti SC6 and Michelin SS are both soft compound tires and wear quickly too. I haven't seen any feedback on the SC6 but a few G29 owners have reported getting only !5K miles out of the Michelins. The SC6 has a treadwear rating of 240 compared to 300 for the SS so I would expect shorter life on the Conti but that's just an educated guess based on the tire rating. For comparison ,the P Zero has a rating of 280, 300, or 320 depending upon size and run-flat or not.

We’ll see, for sure… I was comparing all the soft sport tires in my write up. Michelins always lasted longer for me, but obviously it depends how you drive the car. Pirellis lasted 6k for me on the rears on E550 coupe), 9k miles on M3 CX. 12k miles (tesla model 3 performance). Michelins (SS, PS3) lasted 15k on my other M3’s…

Just had a dealer update.

Thinks the car will be with him in the U.K. end of next week. This probably very end of the month once prepped and then it’s off to Motech for springs and spacers. End of April it is.

Time to sort the garage!

I've updated the ship schedules for Bremerhaven to the US. Some minor changes and added ships leaving through mid May. Yellow highlight is Port of Savannah in lieu of Brunswick.

I was on the Hawaiian Highway. After an unexpected day's delay, the car was unloaded at Brunswick today and the status changed to "At the Port". Should be shipped to VPC over the next few days and then scheduled for PCD.

Just thought I would provide times for those anticipating Performance Center Delivery.

I'm sure this has been posted somewhere, but what's the usual timeframe from when the ships docks in the US port to when the car gets delivered to the dealer? Assuming the ship arrives on time on 4/24 (which is a Monday), is it realistic I could get the car that weekend (like Saturday, the 29th)? Google shows an 11.5 hour drive from the port to my dealer, so lets says that takes 2 days to be safe. How long does it take to clear customs and the VDC?

That would be the earliest it would show up. Here's a timeline I found awhile ago:

• Offload at port: 1 day
• Clear customs: 1-2 days
• Process through BMW VPC and onto a carrier: 2-5 days
• Transport time to Dealership: 1-4 days

I'd guess the following Mon - Wed is more likely.

Also a lesson from experience. Don't rush your dealer to deliver the car. Give them a day or two to do the pre-delivery inspection and car prep. We rushed our E60 delivery many years ago and had a few issues crop up that should have been addressed pre-delivery.

Thanks. Hopefully they'll schedule your PCD as soon as it reaches the VPC. Since they typically schedule a minimum of 2 weeks ahead for deliveries, I figure I'm looking at the third week of May at the earliest with the ship arriving in Brunswick 4/27.

I have heard that some have had to wait 4-6 weeks for PCD. I can deal with it. I would like to avoid travel around Memorial Day weekend though.

Call BMW genius. They’re super helpful.
