That does look good. What company did you get it from? Was it an eBay thing?

One last item of note. I believe overheating is an across-the-board issue for all auto manufacturers. Genesis (sic Hyundai) have introduced venting in their wireless pads to reduce heat buildup.

Good to see long term opinions here...
Currently mulling over changing from my 17 F80 M3 to the G29. We have a 2005 E85 Z4 2.5, 5 speed. I have a great deal of fun with the old Z and of course the M3. The G29 M40 falls right between. I got to spend a couple of hours with the G29 and was impressed.
I do track from time to time and the M is a very capable and fun car. For street driving though, I have discovered a love for top down driving in the old Z. Still on the fence about the G29 but it is compelling me for some reason. I have gleaned some good information on this forum. Glad it is out here. Regards |

Great thread. I'm amazed as to how short a time some of you waited for a build. My Client Advisor is telling me 5-6 months. Also compared to say.....a X5 which is a big seller it's hard to get any service from my CA to initiate a build for the G29. Have received a 10% offer off MSRP BEFORE incentives which I think is a good deal.

Hi All! 11 months with the Z4 M40i. It's like some of the posts say: 2 cars in one. Basically a small GT with sports capabilities. I had few issues so far, see below the list.
1- Rattle in the dash - ended up being the rear view mirror assembly, just smacked it into place and the rattle stopped 2- Fuel line sensor - had to swap it for a new one 3- Tires: had to swap both rear tires, both defective 4- Cracked windshield - guess not really a BMW issue, but in 14 years of BMW this was the first time (hopefully the last) 5- Drink oil like a deep fryer, 1qt every 1000miles although been told from BMW this is normal with the B58 engine... 6- Harman Kardon fussy, mess up the ASD with the music and in general quality pretty low... As you can see beside the oil issue nothing serious. The car is VERY powerful, more than the declared figures in my opinion. It's fun to drive and in general people look at it because of its beauty (I live in LA so no one really look at your car unless is the last model exotic). Very comfortable in long commuting and trips. I coded few extra options like the start/stop memory, the reduced mode for the instrument cluster, stuff like that. Never had problems with the breaks getting stones in them. Last edited by Sqtr5000; 08-25-2020 at 11:28 AM.. |

I leased a 2017 M240i with the B58 for 3 years over 27,000 miles and it never needed any oil added between changes.
I've had my M40i for 2 months now and absolutely love it, the M240i was a blast but this is a higher level of fun and looks so much better, I don't miss the back seat or the slightly larger trunk. |

As happy as I am to hear you don’t put kids in the trunk of your car, it concerns me that you would put yourself in the trunk of your car. Maybe your significant other should go in the trunk instead if it comes to that...

Love mine after 9 months. Only Complaints are cup holder placement, sound system weak, no hardtop, volume screen. Coded the volume screen off and video in motion on using bimmercode.

after just over a year, I still love mine too. Yeah, cup holders aren't the best but that's pretty minor in the big scheme of things. I sold my 2014 Jaguar V8S and ditched my wife's SLK350 for this Z4 to try to consolidate and we are both very happy - the Z4 offers the look and performance that I was after and is small enough with better visability for the wife compared to the F type (the Z4 also doesn't scare her like the Jag sometimes did). Honestly, I can't think of anything we don't like other than she misses the Mercedes' Air Scarf.
