Windshield Crack

2019 G29 with 1200 miles on it. Went out this morning and found this crack in the windshield. The car was garaged and nothing touched it. The crack is about 8 inches and ends right in the middle of the Connected Drive logo on the mirror.

The glass is entirely smooth and there was no trauma (no nicks, no scratch, or indentations). It simply cracked. Anyone else had this problem?

I had my one cracked last week and replaced.
I find a very small stone mark just next to the base of the mirror! The crack not obvious at the beginning & appear few days latter (likely due to the vibration during driving)

I've got a replacement coming in the next week...

I was wondering if you needed all the cameras and sensors recalibrating, or if it all just worked ok after replacement...?

Don't know whether the dealer recal the cam or not. But everything works well after the replacement.

In my case, the sensor had to be replaced, so recalibration/reset was necessary. It is a software thing that requires a scan tool.

@DocWho @Bigmouth Studio

Cheers for the responses... I'll update on here once I have a result...

My replacement is through insurance, using OEM glass but installed by a 3rd party. They have said they would have a specialist look at the reprogramming but if I'm honest, I just don't quite trust them for some reason...

I have Allstate insurance. They have a windshield division that is run by Safelite (3rd party windshield installer). My adjuster suggested I get a 3rd-party replacement which would have been about $1000 cheaper. I was paying a $500 deductible anyway so I opted to have the BMW dealer do the work with genuine BMW parts (I am leasing the car with intent to buy when the lease expires). Allstate covered it.

BTW--I spent some time at RAF Chicksands. If I were there, we could go for a cheeky pint.
