ACC and Speed Limit recognition
There is a suggestion on the BMW configurator site and the BMW video below that you can link the speed limit recognition with the adaptive cruse control by selecting 'Adjust automatically ... but that does not appear in my menu.
My Z4 is brand new with fully updated idrive ...anybody any ideas? |

I wonder if the option is for non-US markets only? I could imagine someone would sue BMW if they got a ticket due to the system not "seeing" a speed limit sign change. I do see the speed limit change on my display as the car passes various signs so they have the cameras working correctly in my Z4.
I've been hoping they can update the software to start recording the drives from the front and rear camera though there might be something more than software changes to make that work. |

Z4 only available with 5AS. Feature may require 5AU which car in video has.

I rented a BMW X1 whist visiting UK and noticed that the navigation system could not differentiate between regular speed limit signs and those for heavy vehicles only so not much use for auto cruise.

not sure what you mean, but mine has traffic sign recognition and adaptive cruise, -- if you can link these manually by pressing 'set' the car certainly has the capability of automatically linking them, it's just missing from the menu!

In my experience if you are driving in a 50mph or higher zone and pass, for example, a HGV 40mph speed sign, the system thinks that you are in a 40mph zone.
