Feel like Im driving round town in a prototype
I took delivery in June and I don't think Ive seen 1 other G29 on the road. I have another car as a daily driver so I don't drive the Z4 that much but when I take the car out people stare at it. When I park it i usually find people standing by it looking at it when I go back to it. Ive never owned such a beautiful and rare car. It actually looks like a prototype. Theres nothing on the road like it. I guess people are just not buying 2 seat sport cars anymore. So happy that BMW decided to build it. I had an E89 which wasn't a great car. This car is really incredible.

It’s the same here in Scottsdale AZ - I picked up my m40i in July and have yet to see another Z4 on the road, which is surprising as there are lots of sports cars here. Love my Misano blue Z4 and will be enjoying roof down motoring from now until the heats builds up again next April/May. Then I keep the roof up during the day but it’s nice to drop the top in the evening when the sun goes down.

That is exactly how I feel also. I took delivery in late Oct this year and so far I haven't even seen one on the street (before & after delivery), even though the sales told me they sold a lot of Zs.

Less than 50 Z4s per state sold so far this year!
So BMW has sold 2700 Z4s this year through Nov. So if CA, TX and FL has 2X the number as everyone else (100 cars per state) there would be less than 50 Z4s each on the road in places like PA, NJ, OH, GA, MD, AZ. Guess thats why we don't see them often.

Actually, I see more Z3 and 'original' Z4's than E89. I have seen a couple other E89 - after I returned my lease. But I have yet to see a G29 outside a dealer's lot.

There is a G29 that I see on the road here in most southern part of NJ (cape may county). The local BMW dealer has quite a few in inventory. If they aren't selling by next spring there should be a good discount being offered on them. I am currently driving an E89 and do enjoy it, but it is nothing like my Previous Z4M Roady. Every time I sell a car to get a new car I regret selling the old car. That is the case with my Z3, Z4MR, and my 911. Surprisingly, I also feel that way about my 1986 Pontiac Fiero SE, my 1976 Toyota Celica ST, my 1973 Ford Gran Torino (with a 351) and my very first car - my 1964 Volkswagen Beetle. If Only I had kept them all and still was able to get the next, and the next, and the next.......... [sigh]

I have had my SF Red for two months now. I find that as I am out and about I need to drive it almost as if I were driving a motorcycle. People driving stare at it and lose attention to their driving. Wherever I park, most people within sight turn and look at it. If anyone is passing by they ask me about it and want to look at it. That would have been great to me if I was 23. At 63, it is a bit annoying but we all have to make sacrifices . It will be 71 degrees today, guess who needs to see what's new on some back roads?

Gas stations ... especially when the top is down people exclaim ‘this is a gorgeous car, which make is it’ and they walk around to front or back to see - quite a few are surprised it’s a BMW actually.

5 mos later still the same
I havent seen 1 other G29 around where I live still. Everyone is buying stupid SUVs. Last week I was fueling up and a guy with a Golf R walked over and talked to me like I was driving a Bugatti. The G29 has that effect on people. The shape of the car is beautiful and the Misano blue is really unique (maybe a tad too bright). He spent 15 min asking me Qs about the car. If BMW only would advertise the car a little they might sell more. I heard from corporate that the car is selling well in Germany and across Europe and that the plant in Austria (Magna) is relatively busy making Z4s and Supras. Seems like a win win for BMW and Toyota. Us too!

There's only 1 other G29 in my city and it's an xdrive 30i. So my Z4 M40i is quite rare around here.
Tonight I was out for a drive and in a way I felt like it was a bad idea. I had one dude in a clean Genesis I waved to, but then I think he wanted to race. Nope, sorry, I don't do that... I had a few other cars tailgaiting me pretty close and one guy who was telling me I had a nice car. I rolled down the passenger window and he didn't realize the window was up. Unfortunately, driving a nice car like the Z4 makes you a target for some. Rob |

Comming from Porsche, I have never had this attention from passers by. A lot of thumbs up and a friend say it's already a classic!!
In Norway there's only 9 Z4 M40is. Convertible up north-no high numbers... |
