Battery type
Hello,
Thanks to Covid 19 my new Z4 has been stopped for 6 weeks, and now my battery is low, I was thinking in charging it with the Ctek MXS 5.0 charger, but I don't know if I have to put it in AMG mode, does anyone know exactly which battery this car has? Thanks in advance!!! |

Charging your battery
I have that same charger. Here in europe they are named AGM not AMG but they should be identical. You should have an AGM battery From factory and you should use AGM charging Mode plus the recond option. If it doesnt recover the normal 12.8 or 12.9 volts then it is damaged.

Battery charging
Remember to connect the battery charger to the + and - post in the engine bay, never directly to the battery or you might have problems with the onboard computer.
Charging the battery shouldn't take more than 24 hours but since you have to use the reconditioning mode, allow 48 hours. Allow a few hours for the battery to cool down and then read volts. If you have at least 12.8 then your battery survived the confinement. if not you'll have to buy a new one. By the way congratulations for been strong enough to actively having the COVI-19 and survive.

So we know that the stock battery is an AGM and not an LiFePo4? ....I couldn't find much info when I tried to determine what it was

Optional AC, DC
If anybody is interested in having 12 volts DC or either 220 volts or 120 volts in the cargo area, this is a home made power station.

thanks; I'm a bit surprised as my F type had LiFePO4 batteries......I'd think that a manufacturer of a premium sportscar would go Lithium over AGM for the weight savings, probably 30 lbs or so? ....though they did save a few dollars per car....
