Years ago I had a Dinan chip installed in a 1994 E36 325i convertible. I definitely felt the difference.

I didn't know this was an option. Through BMW or external?

They were sold through BMW dealers in the past, maybe still are with some dealers. They did have an arrangement with BMW that ended a number of years ago. During the late E or early F generations.

No fan of Dinan. Don't know if they still do it but they advertised crank horsepower not wheel horsepower like the rest of the industry. This caused their power ratings to be overstated in a direct power comparison.

Guy running Dinan full stages in the $3000 range vs at the time I was beta testing the 335is version of the JB4 about $450 + I had a $350 FMIC. Cars identical 2011 335is coupes 7DCT

Drag Times listing still in their 335i section page 10 now

12.583 SEC 114.529 MPH 8.062SEC 90.430MPH 2.070 BMW 335i 335IS 2011 BEAR-AvHistory

12.590SEC 108.740MPH 8.130SEC 87.740MPH 1.960 BMW 335i S Dinan Stage 3 Tune 2011 BuraQ

Number you want to look at is terminal speed as it represents available horsepower.

Dinan announced that its available

My dealer is a Dinan specialist. I would only do it there. I havent called them yet for pricing and an appointment. As I remember it takes the 30i up by 30HP.

Disagree totally

Dinan makes great products and they have a warranty program with BMW thats still in place. I wouldn't touch a JB whatever with a 10 foot pole. BMW can tell it was on the car and if your motor fails good luck.

I have had Dinan tunes with their hardware installed by the BMW AD on 2 335s that I had and the difference in power was incredible. It took that car from 300HP to almost 380HP and you could feel it and measure it. It costs more because its worth it.

They do not have a warranty WITH BMW thats history. They have a Dinan warranty that will supposedly cover anything that BMW will not cover. BMWUSA has zero, nada, zip, legal connection with Dinan. They are now a third party supplier to some BMW dealers.

IIRC you need to use a dealer that still sells Dinan kit to get warranty relief.

BTW Steve Dinan sold the business in 2013 to Driven Performance Brands, a private equity group. He went to Ganassi racing then to CarBahn where I think he still is. You can look it up.
