Porsche moved over because he thought that roller skate short wheel base was going to become too unstable near his Porsche.

I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE the Mk1 Golf. It was my father's first new car, and it was what I came home from the hospital with when I was born. After a few years, my mother drove it until we gave it to my aunt. Wish she would have not given it away...

If it's still in the family, why not offer to buy it back? I'm sure that mk1 means a lot to you. But I'm guessing the car isn't around anymore.

I should clarify. Once my aunt was done with it, she gave it away. No clue where it went as we live abroad. But a shame. Let me try and find a picture of it. Hold on...

Both my mom and dad had diesel rabbits. My moms lasted well into the 1990's and had ~250k on it.
