Anyone wish we had a CD player?

I know this makes me sound ancient but sometimes I miss the CD player in my old E90. Anyone wish that it was at least an option? I make good use of CarPlay, Spotify, and Sirius but sometimes I just want to listen to a CD. I swear I'm only 44 LOL.

The CD player in my car is the only way I can figure out how to upload music to my hard drive. Now in my new car they are doing away with the hard drive also. I guess I will be stuck being indoctrinated by NPR....

If you still want a CD player and you are only 44 you must be an "old soul".

I'm ok with out it. Most of the music I want to listen to I can find on Spotify. When I moved 3 years ago, I tossed my very small collection of CD's.

Welcome to the future. I suggest digitizing your CD collection on a thumb drive and either upload to the hard drive or use from the usb ports.

I still have my CD collection and it's used with my old school home theater system.

I’ve been using Pandora via Apple CarPlay and have been pretty satisfied. It’s free if you want to listen to a few commercials and it has channels for pretty much any artist you can think of. You just do a long press on the button and say “Play (your favorite artist or song) on Pandora” and off it goes. You also get to hear other similar artists that you may never have heard of that you might like.

Many years ago when I burned all of my CD's to my iMac's HD. I play this music at home through my Sonos system and in my car using the Apple Music app on my iPhone and CarPlay.

I really need to set some time aside to do this. I've digitized quite a bit over the years. I'm indeed an old soul, LOL! But maybe if I hold out long enough CDs will be retro cool again

You could always decorate your wall with them after you transfer the music.

I have been doing this too. You can also setup your own channels and you can give tunes a thumbs up or thumbs down to tweak the channels to be more to your liking. All in the free version.

Spotify resulted in me dumping just about every CD we had. Saying that CDs meant I threw all the cassettes away. Then there was the 8 tracks and ……….

I digitized 20 years ago. I have everything on a thumb drive but it's also all on Amazon. With Alexa now on my Z4 I don't even need the thumb drive.

I do have CD players in some of my cars but I never use them.
CDs sound better than Spotify though.

No. Pay for Apple Music and anything you want to hear will be at your fingertips. If you're a big enough nerd like me, you have digitized every type of media you acquired over the years and have it on a Dell Enterprise-grade server in the basement running an instance of Plex Media server which is accessible at every flatscreen in the house and mobile device, and can play it on your iDrive system via CarPlay

talk to my friend Steve (SB2002) on the MINI forum ... he'll hook you up ... need to remote flash and load new FSC codes onto your MGU, and you can get these things activated
