Hi

I’m new to this forum and from UK. I ordered a new z4 30i in aug and just got an email from BMW saying the quota has been accepted and car will probably arrive beginning of march 🥳 I was hoping that someone here may know whether or not this means my packs have been accepted? At what point would they let me know if HK/HUD could be removed? Also What does a quota accepted mean???

I don't think there is any guarantee that BMW will be able to get all of the parts in an acceptable time frame to be able to ensure all cars will receive all of the options which were ordered. However, it does look like they are starting to get the parts line moving again, so there is hope you will be able to get every option you ordered.

I don't think that quota is related to accepting anything. Once you sign the order, your spec is more or less locked (more or less, because you can still change some things until production starts). If some parts are missing at the moment of signing the order, your dealer should let you know. They have access to latest information.
Quota relates to specific production schedule. It may still change so better check once in a while with dealer if everythings on track.
My Z4 was scheduled for early Nov production but was pushed to Dec. Fortunately I was frequently asking my dealer for status so we were able to push it back to Nov again. Anyway 2 weeks before production they cancelled touchsreen functionality. Crazy times.
Nothing is written in stone nowadays. I heard BMW is working to changing the supply chain so should be better in the future.

BMW is not like some other brands that will wait till all components are ready before it begins production. THey'll build it and then add it at the port as necessary.

Or just build it and refund for the feature omission like it's not a big deal.

My Z4 is currently at the port, waiting to cross the pond(to the USA). I don't know when it will be here, but it does not have HUD or a touch screen. BMW was kind enough to take off $500 for the missing features. Yup $500....in total(WTF a total slap in the face). I don't believe BMW will do anything else. At this point its "take it or leave it"

That’s ridiculous. £350 for hud and touch screen!! Bet they wouldn’t add it for that price..

In the UK it would probably still be worth getting and selling second hand for a profit.

My last car was a 435d convertible fully loaded and hud was awesome but with the new digital dash on the Z4 I’m not sure how much i would miss it.. still want it though of course.. would def miss Harmon kardon though.. if they remove both i reckon i will just sell it when it arrives

Yikes. I personally would not accept the car without the HUD. And $500 for that ...is hardly compensation, the HUD alone is worth much more.

I would pass also as I really use the HUD and touchscreen.

I don't know. The Z4 is showing at the port for two weeks now, so IDK if/when it'll get here for me to see if I can live with it. Plus I already put $1000 down payment down and I would hate to lose it on a car i ordered

Don't worry about the deposit. It should be refunded because the car being delivered was not the one you ordered. That is unless you agreed in writing to accept the deletes.

Just had an update from bmw. Apparently my 30i is arriving beginning of march. However, no tech pack!! After discussing options I have changed the car to m40i which is still accepting tech pack in uk. Thinks it will arrive end march 🤞

I think you are right. In the past I’ve had two z4 35i and loved them! I think they were 302 bhp. This was definitely the right choice

Anybody could have told you the solution was to spend more money.

You will not reget the M40i. March is just the right time to get it.

hi Andy - Congratulations! I also have an M40i on order in the UK, currently scheduled for Build in Week 4 (25th Jan) and delivery Late Feb early March. As far as I am aware no deletions at the moment, however the dealer is still unsure about whether it will come with a touchscreen. Seems until the build is started they can't be sure - has your dealer mentioned any possible deletions?

Cheers Blaster and congrats on your car! They said in the 30i the tech pack was removed but they were able to re add the park assist. on the 40i the order went though with everything I asked for. However as you know anything could change. I was surprised that touch screen was still on the 30i but no hud AND hk was a deal breaker for me. Did you go for shadow line plus?

Similar story here, originally ordered a 20i back in August, but changed to the M40i in early September - went for Misano Blue, with Tech and Driver Assistance Packs, plus added Wind Deflector. Didn't go for Shadowline Plus in the end as I was already pushing my budget to the limit!

We should keep each other updated as our builds (hopefully) progress soon!

The wind deflector was included on my 2022 build. Did they charge you for it?

I think that is the difference for those across the pond. We on the west side get the wind deflector and they on the east gets the M badging on the front quarter panels.
