black or moonlight top w/glacier silver?

I'm ordering a new silver M40i w/ magma interior and shadowline tomorrow morning. Can't decide whether I should go with black or moonlight top. Which would you pick?

I would say moonlight. I got it on my misano blue and love the look. I think it would look even better with silver. Congratulations on choosing the Z4 you won’t be disappointed it is an awesome car.

You'll be happy with either - black is always a safe choice - but I'd get the moonlit top, it has a sheen and makes the car look extra special.

FWIW have a Black Sapphire Z4 with a black roof & a Dravit Gray with a moonlight roof. Think the moonlight is a better material. Had it on a previous car & still looked new after 9 years when it was sold. 135is has whatever moonlight was called in 2013.

Think Top choice should complement the cars color

STANDARD BLACK. Slosh is wet washer fluid.

MOONLIGHT

MOONLIGHT 9 YEARS OLD Never garaged.

Moonlight is worth it. Brings a sheen to the top in any color and enhances the overall look IMO

Fasten your seat belt and get ready for a wild ride.

Here is a hypothetical question, if for some reason you needed to replace your top would you switch to moonlight from black or vice versa?

I currently have a black top and would, if needed, replace it with a black top.

I currently have a black top and would, if needed, replace it with a black top.
The reason why I asked the question is because I had a 1994 Samoa Blue 325i convertible which I had ordered with a navy roof. Some A-hole slashed the top and the insurance company tried to substitute a black top for the navy color allegedly because they claimed the navy color was not readily available and I told them to go to hell. I ended up getting a navy OEM BMW roof after two weeks of arguing with them. It mysteriously became available after I didn't the budge on the color substitution.

Nor should you budge. If the option wasn't available, I would go moonlight or 3rd party with grey.

They also tried to convince me to take a roof that was not OEM and I told them to stick it.

The non OEM is cheaper; however, BMW makes a great cloth top that holds up real well if taken care of.

I had a friend in the service department at BMW in Manhattan that told me not to settle.

Go for what you like. Don't know if the color makes much difference in price or not, but if it does, I'll bet it is small, and if you want that color you could pay the small difference in price.

We would replace with moonlight, since that's what we would have ordered if we'd gone that route instead of buying used.

Got the top on our '99 Z3 replaced with two weeks left under warranty and I talked the service manager into getting blue instead of tan, since my wife LOVES blue and white. Had the replacement top replaced with a blue aftermarket 7 years after that. Significantly less expensive than OEM.

When I replaced the top on my 1994 325i my friend in the service department told me there was a big quality difference between the OEM top and an aftermarket third-party product. I followed his advice and I was happy I did so.
