Think we all (M40i) have slippage on a hard launch & a WOT 1/2 shift.

Have a set of PS4 and a set of PSS on two different cars. Not a true head to head matchup but found PS4 to be all round slightly better.

The M40i does not have enough tire, 275, with street compound summer tires to eliminate it. Maybe one size up if they will fit the wheel & body might work.

Just gets progressively worse under 40. Right now looking at 5" of snow & 22*F here in the sunny south, tires will slip 100%. Winter Sucks & there is no snow removal equipment outside of the Sun.

I'm going up to 295 once I wear out the factory tires. Seems like lots of Supra folks have already tried out this recipe.

Interesting, a 275 is just under 11-in width and that is not enough? I did a 275 rear on my 350Z and got loads of traction. Albeit it was a naturally aspirated 3.5L V6, but was putting 350HP at the rear tires. As I say this, the inline motors do pull more torque and the turbo just exacerbates it so you may be on to something.

BMS has benchmarked a baseline for our cars pure stock @ 399.29WHP. Its not to their advantage to go crazy on a benchmark because it just makes it harder for their tuner to show big number gains.

PS4S has a UTQG treadwear rating of 300.
PPS has a UTQG treadwear rating of 300.

Both among if not the best dry traction for a street tire that has to last awhile, handle wet streets & ride pretty quiet. Most summer street tires are 320 & higher.

How our Z4 tires sit against true performance performance ties is another story. Real performance tires don't last long, have outstanding dry traction, suck on wet streets & are noisy.

In our AutoX classification you can go as low a 200 street legal tire & still run in the stock classes. You are looking at something like a NITTO NT555-G2 which comes in two flavors 320/200.

My Cobra runs NITTO NT01 Road Course 100 treadware DOT legal street tire & is forced to run in the XP class because of tires.

FWIW or not the Cobra runs 275 (10.9) in front & 315 (12.6) in back. A hard launch in 1st at 1850RPM will burn then.

New tires @ 10,000 miles

Could this be a DSC issue? Is traction control detecting spin and backing off the throttle or applying the brakes? Try turning off traction control and see if it gets better or worse.

The real problem here is that BMW puts engines in their cars whose power really bullies the scrawny rubber they shoehorn in under the fenders. Ever increasing interior space requirements mean the only sollution is to make wider bodied cars and as it is the G29 is a wide assed bird.

Not the AS3 - the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 XL - 45,000 mile treadwear warranty. They will hopefully last twice as long as the OEM tires.

Thanks, that makes sense. Knew BMW was conservative on the HP numbers but not that conservative.

I still have my summers PSS on for the winter. On dry road, even below freezing, I don't notice any loss of traction (could always break loose the rears, warm or cold). But on ice and snow, they are utterly totally completely worthless!

Look up the spec & see what the UTQG treadwear rating number is. I think its over 450 to get that mileage.

Mine has don that since day one, but I am hard on it all the time. Not sure why the traction control does not come in with the rear starts to axel hop. Seems like the bushing may be soft so they wind up and then release causing the hopping. I think the only way to fix this problem is with harder bushings since there is no way that I am backing off. For now I just try an avoid the problem with much less throttle until third gear then full power does not seem to be a problem other than the rear dancing around.

Scrawny rubber?

I guess I'm just old now but driving a 450hp Superbee 440-6 with F70-15 biased ply tires.....THAT's scrawny rubber.

.....mind you, these guys still manage to get a sub 10 second run with them on;

OK, carry on.
