Misano or Sapphire black, that is the question

Ordered Z4 M40i back in December, still waiting on allocation (dealer promised Feb).

Misano Blue, black wheels, shadowline trim and Oyster interior.

I've never seen Misano in the wild and I'm thinking about changing my order to sapphire black.

Misano owners, any regrets? Any pics under different lighting are appreciated. (I have a ton of pics but still want more ).

I'm in central FL and z4s are rare. Wish I could spot one in blue.

For reference I owned f80M3 comp in Yas Marina blue and loved the color.

Thanks for any input in advance.

I have not seen these colors in person....however from my past car ownerships I'd stay away from black. They are a PITA to keep clean, and show even the most minor imperfections in the paint. However nothing looks like black when its clean and shiny

I am very glad I ordered mine in Misano. It's really beautiful and turns lots of heads. I also got the shadowline package and black wheels.

I have a 2022 in Misano Blue with the ivory leather interior and love the combination. I know that people love their black cars but the Misano Blue is a special color! The staff at my dealer's service department call it Superman Blue.

My wife's 228i is in the background of the first picture and she was upset that I ordered Misano Blue which she has acknowledged is a prettier color than her Seaside Blue.

PS, if it was available I would have ordered Yas Marina Blue aka Smurf Blue without any hesitation as it is my all-time favorite BMW color!

Misano is definitely a special kind of blue.

I think the real Misano v. Black decision is contrast or no contrast.

I would go blue before black on a Z4. I like misano blue a lot more than the other BMW blue colors (tanzanite and portimao) which you see as standard on other models.

Now having said that, Sapphire black is an awesome black color. That's what my X6 is. But, I still wouldn't get a Z4 in it. It hides detail too much.

Are you getting the red calipers or the blue ones?

I like the contrast and I love the blue, just hard to tell if it's the right kind of blue for me. I traded my Alpine White f80 M3 for Yas Marina Blue after seeing it in person.

These are 2 videos that I have been watching over and over again and can't decide.

Blue calipers. I plan on getting IND painted reflectors, black z4 badge so the car is truly just 2 tone (minus the interior). Thanks for all the pics, keep them coming.

I'm sure you looked but try to find a picture with Misano and Yas Marino blue cars together. IMO this is a question of whether Misano looks better than Yas Marino blue. If it doesn't then go with another color (black is always safe).

For instance, I had a Mineral Gray BMW before my Z4. I once parked it next a Space Gray BMW and instantly realized that I'd never order Space Gray after having Mineral Gray.

I’m a little prejudice, but I like the way the body gaps disappear and the lines just flow. Yes, keeping it clean is a little more of a challenge, but that’s why I went with PPF and ceramic, which makes washing and drying (with a leaf blower) much simpler.

Of course if you buy the sapphire black and feel you made a mistake you can always purchase my $29.99 DIY Smurf Blue kit!

Lots of people on the forum really like their blue ones. So I can only tell you my personal experience. I always wanted a blue car and was 100% all-in on the blue. I'd seen a ton of pics online and liked what I saw, but when I went to the dealer and saw it in person, the color wasn't what I thought it would be. I'd find someone of the forum and check it out in person if you can so you can be sure.

There are few color options for a Z4 and BMW doesn't let people pick individual colors for it either. A friend tried to request Mediterranean blue which is a Z4 30i (USA) color, but was denied. The 30i colors are the same as the M40i colors here in Canada.

Maybe the least popular color is the glacier silver metallic? I see it discussed very little. It's a boring color (no offense).

I think Misano blue is possibly the most popular color just from my time reading the forum.

i bought a 2019 white w/magma. but then i traded it in and ordered a 2022 silver with magma that's scheduled for production now. the white/magma was a great combo, but I wanted a metallic color that shined better when waxed. No offense taken-- I like to buy cars/colors I'm unlikely to run into. And silver/red is classic. Nothing looks better on a Z8 or a Mercedes gullwing!

Actually my experience was the exact opposite as virtually all of my cars have been in the blue family with the exception of a 1991 white 325i. I had seen pictures of Misano Blue online and wasn't convinced it was a color I could really love and I had already test driven a white/ cognac Z4 and my wife and I loved the combination. My salesman at the Ft. Lauderdale dealership informed me that there was a used Misano Blue Z4 sitting at their other location in Pembroke Pines so I drove over and the second I saw it I was in love with the color.

I definitely agree that M0011 should check it out in person and then make a decision!

I'm not saying that my F82 Yas Marina was my all time favorite blue, but if I could have done my 2022 Z4 M40i in individual paint, there would be no doubt what color it would have been.
