BBC America ran the TNG episode "Yesterday's Enterprise" yesterday. Even in an all-war timeline, I'd still prefer Kirk over Picard!

This is my favorite TNG episode, FWIW.....

I dunno man, "Let's make sure history never forgets the name Enterprise" is a pretty hard to beat badass moment.

I prefer "The Doomsday Device," but possibly because it is the only TNG episode that I remember seeing on its TV premiere back when I was a kid.....

It's a damn good episode. My fav scene is the Enterprise D getting into position for the impending battle at the very end. A great shot of the 2 Enterprise hulls about to get down to business.

And Kirk out-thought and outfought a genetically enhanced person. Twice.

Doomsday Machine? It was one of my top 10 TOS episodes.

And: Kirk had the better musical score. No contest there.

Yes, Kirk was a stud there, but everyone knows a mullet automatically reduces one's IQ by at least 50%. Try again vs a Khan w a regular haircut.

Have to get into the new movies to find Khan without a mullet.

Khan was a bad-ass in the newer remake.

Holy Kobayashi Maru, Batman! The "fake news" Washington Post has already printed the definitive article on this subject. Drum roll for the winner...James T. Kirk in TOS!!! Picard, you ask? He's in FOURTH place, behind Sisko *and* Janeway!

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...trek-captains/

Quote:
1. James T. Kirk, “Star Trek”: The predictable but correct choice. Kirk commanded with brains, heart and brio. He is the Federation’s greatest one-on-one tactical commander in battle and could even destroy malevolent talking computers by arguing them into logical suicide-spirals. He began his career battling Klingons and lost his son to Klingons, yet ended up sealing the Federation peace with the Klingons. He had two substantial flaws: He treated the Prime Directive like dental floss and looked at many alien species as child-races in need of education, enlightenment or a good spanking. But his sometimes-cavalier attitude never imperiled the entire Federation like some captains (cough cough — Picard — cough cough). Also, Kirk was smart enough to lean on the Federation’s finest first officer. With Spock, the superego to Kirk’s id, they were a nearly flawless pair.

We actually watched the 2009 Star Trek movie last night again.

Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban......all of these guys were great picks for the roles they played. They just "fit".

On Gold Rush the other night, Parker (millennial mine owner) and Fred (retired Green Beret) staged an impromptu TOS hand-to-hand combat scene with lengths of pipe...down to humming the "Star Trek fight music" as they did it. That has to be worth a few votes for Kirk.....

Thats true, I was also amazed how close they come to their older Egos.

Btw. I own a fan collectors box with all shows where Q (John de Lancie) appears, every time hilarious again.
