2008 535i

Just opened up my monthly statement and found the insert for InsideTrack with a 5 sedan on the cover... at first glance, looked like an M5... upon closer inspection, realized that its just the new 2008 5 series probably with a sports package that is very similar to the M5.

Best news is, the mid-model 535i will have the same V6 300HP engine, supposed to pull 5.6sec to 60mph.

It has certainly changed my perception of the mid-model range. Wonder if the ix will offered?

Don't have a scanner, but took a couple of pictures for your reference.

now why is there a reason to buy a 550i again? based on power at least and speed.

id say most buyers that match the 550i demographics arent interested in chipping their cars. They are more satisified with a big NA 8 cylinder engine's power delivery.

The new 535i is pretty close to the 550i in terms of performance and specs, will this be a problem for 550i sales? or is the 550i getting some more power added? Even if 550i shoppers like the V8, the TTv6 should have much better gas mileage which is something that this demographic values b/c they feel like they are being better to the planet, their image, etc.

I am just very glad to see BMW trying to apply our V6 to other models one after another (first 135i in the works, now this).

V6 V6 V6 V6 ????

I am surprised it is as fast as BMW is quoting at 5.6 seconds..... After that, the 550i should pull away.

Put a PROCede on the 535 and 550 doesn't have a prayer.

Yeah ist not that different, but throw a Procede into the mix and its bye bye 550 and Oh se ya later aligator.... Hmmm I don't think the gas consumption will be any better if you really get on it like that though.

don't forget that the 550i is faster than a 335i stock from 0-60 and on the highway, let alone the 535 which would weigh more than a 335i.

most people in that market will never know about procede and would prefer a beefy v8 over a twin turbo i6. i know i would, if i had that money. v8 > *

My buddy and I got our cars the same day. He went 530. Kids. The first time he tried me at a light he went CRAP MAN I thought this car was quick. I talked him into the car, his first BMW. He loves the cars feel. The other day was his first ride in mine. He had his hand on the dash as if that was going to slow it down. "This thing just digs at the pavement". He has ordered 535. Told him about Procede coming to me. "You are crazy". Gotta love conservative fathers. The single life, it's the life for me.
