Los Angeles Visit

What is a relatively central area to stay in Los Angeles?

I will be there Saturday to Sunday followed by Newport Beach Monday to Tuesday.

I want to go to beverly hills, santa monica, hollywood etc.

Perhaps it's better not to get a hotel until I get there and figure it out for that first night? I've heard century city and santa monica are good options.

We stayed at The Sofitel in LA. Seemed to be close to everything and there’s a hospital just across the road should you require

Look for an Airbnb. Use your miles to pay for it. Stay in Malibu for a fraction of the cost of a hotel.

That’s too bad. Grab a car or Uber down to the beach.

Then take the time to drive from Santa Monica along the beach (PCH mainly) to Laguna. There are some restaurants along PCH in Long Beach and Huntington Beach with nice beach views. Or just stop and enjoy the sand and surf. Marina del Rey and Newport Harbor for boat viewing. Can get a half-day fishing charter out of Newport, for example.

In Newport I like a cup of Starbucks at the corner of PCH and Goldenrod, great for people and car watching. My mom lives nearby and I try to get out there once a year, but that’s all of that area I can take.

Air BnB near Venice Beach, best stay ever. 15 Minutes to walk to the beach, 40 mins driving by car to Hollywood and the surroundings.

The areas you outlined are the places to visit in LA. Beverly Hills/Century City are a good location as they are between Santa Monica and Hollywood so you'll have easy access to both.

We're going in about a month. Spending the long weekend in Santa Monica. Hotels are very expensive. There are strict AirBnb regulations requiring the owner to be on site, so it's mostly guest houses.
We move up to the Loews Hollywood for 2 nights to see Dead and Company at the Bowl.
We decided to not even bother with a car, first of all parking is very expensive, about $40-50/nt. We're just going to Uber everywhere (or walk).

Hitting those three places for any length of time in 2 days will be tough imo. You'll chew up a lot of time commuting. I'd stay in Santa Monica and enjoy that area, very walkable.

I rented a car from SIXT, its near LAX, you get shuttled from the airport..

Paid $335USD for a MERCEDES GLC - unlimited mileage. for a 5 day rental! Unbelievable great deal.

Checked out Santa Monica, Malibu, Hollywood, Beverley Hills, and drove 4 hours to Vegas! Great time.

They have all kinds of cool cars from bmw/mercedes verts, corvettes, range rovers, etc. Check them out if you need transportation.

USA ROCKS! Coming from a Canadian..

So I already have a hotel... its on Sepulveda about 2-3 miles from Beverly Hills. Seems like a very central area. I do intend to see a few sights.

As far as Sixt, I've looked into it... yes LAX has it but not SNA.
