When auto stop start is disabled, does the setting persist between successive driving

Seeing this old post for the F87, I’m confused about whether auto stop start can be disabled once and ignored thereafter, or whether it resets each time the car starts? The post is at https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...&postcount=835. I’m in the US.

My G29 will be arriving next week so I’m hoping to find out for sure in case I need to ask the dealer to code it out for me. Thanks for any guidance.

It restarts every time car is switched on.
However in Sport+ it is disabled.

Each time the car starts, it's in Normal (sorry, Comfort). So you have to press Sport - but like others have said, that also turns off the auto stop/start, so it saves you a button press.

The good news is it will remember whether you are in default settings or individual settings when you press Sport - you don't have to press multiple times.

I actually drive in Eco when there is strong rain.

The default setting is for the Auto Start/Stop to be on for Eco and Comfort. When I start the car, that's the second button I press to deactivate it. If I switch between driving modes, it remembers the last setting until the car is turned off. I usually drive in comfort (with the start/stop deactivated), then switch to sport+ for spirited driving or better acceleration. If traffic is slow, I'll switch to eco (deactivating start/stop the first time I go into eco). At some point, I'm going to look at having the start/stop coded to be off as the default.

Thanks. I’ll definitely ask the dealer when I pick the car up, but if I get difficulty I’ll look into coding it out myself with Bimmercode

My dealer said they are removing the option to turn it off sometime in the near future, in order to comply with new regulations. Hopefully we'll still be able to code it off if that happens.

My dealer explained that they can no longer do it due to regulations (I didn’t push the issue to try my luck)

I’d like to code it myself, but the annoyance of auto-stop-start isn’t worth the very low risk of screwing up my ecu if the coding goes bad. I’ll live with it, it’s not that bad.

Bimmercode automatically takes a backup before you make any changes, so you can always restore if anything goes wrong.

I do exactly the same and it works well for me.
