Here’s one from autotrader with Kansas using VIN decoder. Think this orange/red seat is nappa. 2015 35i. |

https://g29.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...2#post30992182 Either way, I was looking at his post history. Pretty much everything he says is negative. Hates the leather. Hates the gauge cluster. Hates the knob on the manual shifter. Hates rev match assist. Hates the gear # shown in the dash. Hates the DRLs. Hates there's no laserlights. Hates the black side vent on the front fender. You get the idea. Again, not sure why someone would be considering this car with this long list of dislikes. Plenty of other cars out there. From what I've seen, most people on this board love the car.

After 30 year with the brand and hundreds of thousands spent on it is it unreasonable to wish it becoming better? And g29 6MT is the best BMW offers at the moment.
I hated shift knob in the prototype pictures. Did you like it? Then you must be sad they reverted to the traditional m-shifter. Still not everything is lost: Autozone must have the entire wall of specimens to chose from. Last edited by iklo2; 03-20-2024 at 05:03 PM.. |

This thread has become a dumpster fire, but I’m going to steer it back to the gauges discussion.
If you live with iD8 for a while, it feels very inferior to iD7 initially - for about 6 months. But it grows on you in a weird way and then becomes acceptable and then actually quite nice. The crispness of the display and the layout is really nice other than the hvac controls. You can modulate the instrument half of the display for a bunch of helpful data. That said, ID7 is perfect in the G29 other than the counterclockwise tach, but if you drive hard like I did you actually appreciate that upper rpm’s and approaching red line is closer to your field of vision than it would be in a clockwise layout. ID8.5 in gorgeous and the hvac controls are digital buttons. The HUD is better in iD8 and 8.5. And the instrument panel has even more flexibility in customizing the layout and information in front of you. Going from the M3 & X7 to the Z4 is a return to simplicity in a way with physical buttons and smaller screens. And it feels right in the roadster. Easier to see in direct sunlight as well. Enjoy your buttons while you have them!! |

Not terribly rare for people buying the outgoing series cars in its last production year vs new series ownership posts. I like some early G items ID7 better than late G items ID8 but don't see any reason not to buy one. Favorite word used in most of those posts is "hideous"
