I think the resale value will stabilize once they stop producing… unless they change their mind and release a new gen Z as unlikely as that is. And a manual will probably hold its value slightly better imo given there won’t be as many out there. I still plan on ordering a manual sometime before they kill it.

IDK about that, the vert market is soft and drying up. BMW is probably content with the sales as they are and expected it to be a low volume car.

When you want to sell, you advertise

If you don’t want to sell, you do absolutely nothing

On TV it’s all commercials for the product that moves (SUV’s)
I have seen ads on TV from Mercedes where they featured all of their convertible lineup together.

BMW could have done that with their 4 series, 8 series and Z4 ragtops.

If that was true, I don't believe they would have done the LCI refresh, minor though it may have been.

I’m not trying to be negative…

BMW always does LCI’s

And it was minimal no change to the headlights other than going black on the insides. No change to the Taillights
Nothing on the interior

BMW is now offering ///M Compound Brakes on the X1 or X2…

Nothing for the Z4

You decide

The 23MY tables could have been adjusted for the market at the time.

2020 M40i with average mileage are running mid-low 40’s now. By 2025 they will be down about 50% from original MSRP.

I’m mean it’s not awful but IMO that’s good enough reason to lease vs purchase

Or simply look for a good deal on a CPO. 😉

Because of the bad residuals, leases are terrible on these cars. I’ve been leasing since 2008, and this is the first car I’ve purchased since than.

Yeah, this too. But I don’t think this was ever a great car to lease.

As has been mentioned, it’s very hard as a buyer to resist the benefit of picking up used, allowing the initial buyer to absorb some of that initial hit. While we wait for our allocation, I can’t deny I’m still keeping an eye on the used/CPO market. While I REALLY want the MT, currently talking to a dealer on a ‘24 m40i CPO, only thing missing is HK Stereo & Adaptive CC, (has DAP, Premium/HUD, Ext Shadowline, Remote Start). Only 1.2k miles, priced at $62k, (so ~$10k off a new ‘25 same spec, but with CPO). VERY hard to resist, awaiting more pics to be texted, haha.

Does the new car warranty transfer over on a year old car? Always believed you should buy what you really want but on a used car that can be hard to find.

Is going with an 8ZF worth the $10K you will gain against a '25 6MT @ MSRP?

Personally, I would do it as I believe the 8ZF is a better fit in the Z4 M40i.

Yup, remainder of factory 4yr warranty, along with the 3yr included maintenance all transfers. In this case, it extends it an additional year under the CPO too. In-service date was 09-28-23, so basically it’s virtually a ‘new’ car, with an additional ~6 months/unl mileage warranty on top of given the current month. I’m truly surprised they CPOd it all things given, especially for being priced so well versus what’s out there.

Certainly makes for a tough choice. It’s White Ext/Blk Vernasca Int, (not my top pick, but I’m a fan of white, have had white cars/SUVs for ages, so, meh)…. I’m going to sleep on it. A perk is hubby doesn’t need to learn a MT, and that’s a pretty decent savings for a virtually new car. /shrug, lots to think over the next couple of days, but at the moment, I’m leaning towards it, (despite not thinking I would…..but viewing CPOs the past ~9 months, seems like a true winner).

The low mileage and the price as well as being a CPO does make it a winner. However, before you jump on it, call other dealers and see if you can find one that has allocation available for a 6MT.

Just ordered a 2025 M40i manual this week. While I'm keenly aware of the rapid depreciation on certainly BMW models, I anticipate the six-speed manual versions to hold their value better over time due to their exclusivity and limited availability. At 67 and retired, I am buying this car for keeps and a long period of enthusiastic ownership. This is a dream car I will be thrilled to drive for a very long time.
