For anybody that wasn't sure

Quote:
Stickball is a street game related to baseball, usually formed as a pick-up game played in large cities in the Northeastern United States, especially New York City and Philadelphia. The equipment consists of a broom handle and a rubber ball, typically a spaldeen, pensy pinky, high bouncer or tennis ball.

There's things you can take for that. Or stop doing particular things that affect your short term memory.

Oh wait... what thread are we in now? lol

Yeah, I haven't done any of that stuff for years. Just some drinks on Friday nights.

Oh how I miss warehouse parties. Not the EDM festivals they have today. I mean dark, dirty, warehouses. Impromptu parties that a person had to dig to find. Oh the 90's were such a better time.

Favorite DJ's and genre's?

Oh hell yeah! Today's EDM is trash. Not even remotely the same and way too commercialized. My last entry in my lame thread Music and the Memories touched on this topic, lol. I mentioned some songs that reminded me of those days.

The ones that weren't widely advertised were the best ones. You had to be "in" to know where they're at. In fact, I remember when Moby came to Seattle and he wasn't quite the mainstream star yet and did a gig at one of these parties and I completely blacked out before he even made an appearance. Too many drinks and "supplements" ruined my evening.

I owned (actually still lying around somewhere I'm sure) tons of CD compilations that I need to dig up. I really liked:

The Shamen
The Prodigy
Human Resource ("Dominator")
Joey Beltram
Paul Oakenfold
and a bunch of artists that came out with their one hit wonders

I used to love BT and recently started listening to his old stuff again. Classic stuff.

Nowadays I really like Prog House style music and have gotten into what's referred to as Future Garage and also Minimal Tech. So many good artists from around the world I've discovered. And as some may have discovered by my entries in the What are You Listening to Now thread I've posted a bunch of stuff from Synkro and Matt Lange. Probably my two favorites producers/artists right now.

Ahh never had experience with that actually. I'm certain it would make for quite a trip at a rave though.

Nice and my sentiments exactly. The last party I went to was in 2004. We saw DJ Micro and D:Fuse. It was WAY too commercialized. A handful of other notable DJ's that I've seen live are Keoki, Josh Wink, Ritchie Hawtin (one of my all-time favs, he was Plastikman back then), Electric Sky Church, DJ Dan (not a fan of Chi-town house but whatever, it was fun party), there are a ton more that I can't remember. It's funny at how, now as adults, I keep running into old school party kids everywhere I go. If I actually meet younger kids that are into whatever the scene is now, all they talk about is micro-dosing and Tiesto. Makes me want to slap them. If my field of vision didn't look like I was witnessing an earthquake for about 6-8 hours, accompanied by feeling like my jaw was made of rubber bands it just didn't seem like a successful night.

I still listen to Fat of the Land and Hawtin sets when doing cardio. A few others that I've come to enjoy recently are Nina Kraviz (her boiler room set is amazing - it's on youtube), Maceo Plex, and although they aren't "new finds" I can't discuss this topic without mentioning Jon Digweed, Sasha, Carl Cox and Hernan Cettaneo. Really like some BT as well. Oakenfolds spin of Led Zeppelins "Babe I'm Going to Leave You" was great!

"Micro dosing and Tiesto". Jesus H. You should slap them. Oh yeah, Digweed, Sasha, Carl Cox, there were just so many. I forgot to mention how much I used to like Paul van Dyk who actually did collaborative work with BT. Of course this isn't rave stuff though. I guess I eventually graduated or moved on to more mellow and melodic stuff .

There was a time I really liked Balearic style trance(?) and various genres. Gatecrasher compilations had a lot of cool stuff. This would be in the later 90s I think.

Ahhh I sometimes miss the old days and being more carefree and having fewer concerns in life. I guess that's what I confess in order for it to coincide with the theme of this thread. Lol.
