pulls with my daily

Just a rant here from an old guy... I've been around the car scene for a long time and never understood the fascination with some terminology.

I love the brand new users coming on here asking things like "I'm looking at getting a 335i FBO think this car is a good daily?" I think the term 'daily driver' gets overused. I know a handful of folks who have dedicated track cars, super exotic unmodified cars, collectible classics, aggressive offroad rigs, or other rare cars and those are NOT daily drivers. Nearly any other car is fully capable of being a daily driver. Heck I have a friend who had a Z06 corvette that he used to commute to work every day for 15 years. It wasn't the prettiest car but he enjoyed it every day.

I'm also amused by the overuse of the term 'pulls.' I did some pulls with my 335 the other day. I'm going to do some more pulls today because I love the acceleration. I did a pull and I noticed a weird sound. I did some pulls on the way to the grocery store. I do a lot of pulls and I only get 10MPG, but I'm only at Stage 0. Manifold danger.

Did some 70-90 pulls with my daily and walked away from a Charger multiple times yesterday. Must have been a 7th gen R/T pre-facelift.

Why is it a “pull” when it is rear wheel drive? Shouldn’t it be a “push” instead? 😊

A “pull” should be reserved for front wheel drive autos only. 😉🏁

Yup! Back in the early/mid eighties a group of six of us had two Mopars that we drag raced, a '69 'Cuda with a 383 with twin 4bbls and a '72 Superbee with a 440 six pack. Both were very nearly street legal and both were dailied. They were constantly overheating, running out of gas and would never start hot without a jump. They were sooo much fun though!

We also had a '75 Dart that we used as our "parts getter". We put a 440 in that with a 4 speed manual and waaaayy too much cam for street use. It got one (1) mile to the gallon!

Everyone used to think i was weird for keeping a set of tools in my new car for when it inevitably had an issue on the side of the road. That is until they got stuck on the side of the road with me.
