Actually, this manual is supposed to shift better than the Zupra. They aren’t entirely the same.

GTFOH!!!!! LOL Thats funny. All their manuals are sloppy. No mechanical feel at all. Feels like they put too much into the dampers and bushings on the manuals. The first mod I bought for my M2 was the Rogue short throw (which still isnt installed).
The manual is supposedly better than any bmw manual in decades and better than the Zupra too.

We've seen enough things saying the green can only come with the manual but not vice-versa so let's just let it play out.
Sorry to quote myself. UK site also seems to force you back to the automatic if you choose any color other than the frozen green. I'm not very excited about that.

It is their "Handschalter Pack" specifically so perhaps this is just one configuration and there will still be other options... fingers crossed. I very much prefer a standard paint w/ clear coat. All earlier reports say the manual is + $3500 USD and this pack is around double, so perhaps I'll remind myself once more that the configurators are still early and not 100% all there yet.

Hmm yes it does the same default if you select anything other than Gloss Black trim too. Leave it a few days I think or contact dealers for real order specifics if its an imminent order.

I might be talking to myself but if others wonder, per their launch page:

* For the first time ever, the BMW Z4 M40i is available with a 6-speed manual transmission.
* Package also includes unique suspension tuning, wheels, paint colors, and interior trims.
* The 382-hp “Handschalter” accelerates from 0-60 in only 4.2 seconds.
* Package price: $3,500.
* Worldwide launch to commence in March 2024.

and

Included in the price of the package is the customer’s choice of metallic paints including San Remo Green metallic, which is offered only on the manual version. Also available exclusively on the manual-equipped Z4 M40i is BMW Individual Frozen Deep Green metallic, offered at a special package price.

So the configurators are showing the frozen package, but it's not the only package.

Thanks for confirming what I had posted earlier. It's a good thing we read all of those reviews!

The press release said that this is a MY25 and the 2024 information is still on the USA's Build Your Own page.

The initial compilation of thoughts & small grouping from the slooow rollout/updates to some of the configurators makes me much happier about the pricing. For whatever reason, I was assuming it’d be a flat $3.5k ‘MT tax’, didn’t even figure the various bits, (Vernasca, Shadowline, Paint), being included in the MT package costs. Very happy indeed. Come on US Config, I wanna play!

"M-specific components for the gear set and shafts"

I'm curious what's M-specific about it, considering these are the same ratios as when the GS6-45BZ came out 15 years ago. As far as I know they've never made any changes to the gearsets, though I know they've messed with the synchros, clutch, and bellhousing. Perhaps "M-specific" means Toyota messed with them, and BMW kept it the same? I would be surprised if it was the other way around. Also curious if this'll be labeled "GS6-45BZ" like previous manual B58's, or "GS6L50TZ" like the Supra. That might give us a hint as to what M-specific means.

I have my name down for one of these as well but I am genuinely curious as to how different the shift feel will be from my MT Supra, which is a good bit better than the current suite of g8x manuals I've driven. Not who had the bright idea of removing the door cards/ center console for the M specific cognac interior. Hopefully that is not a requirement to choose that interior when spec'ing the manual, as the default one is much better, even my Supra has one door card and the center console color matched to the seats. It is a shame they are still keeping this an M lite, if this were closer to a Z4M ( s58 would have been nice but even an uprated b58- say 450-475 rated), + options like full merino, the better brakes and chassis tuning it would be a no brainer, but currently it definitely makes me wonder if it is worth the swap from an A91MT supra to this over something like a g87 when convertible or not is not a deal breaker for me.

From C&D's December preview: The transmission is the same one used in the Supra, with uniquely tuned linkages and bushings to arrive at that trademark BMW shift feel, which is somehow simultaneously aloof and precise.

IMO there is little need to replace a Supra with a Z4 if a convertible isn’t the big draw.

For me, a convertible is a requirement for a fun car.

Not sure they ever are. The Thai site has always showed all sorts of options being available, but there is only one standard spec. Exterior paint color is the only option and even those include colors that are not actually available.

I wouldn't change if I were you.

I'm actually not huge on convertibles, although I think it'll be fun to experience it's not what I am after. I want an inline 6, manual, rear wheel drive car and there aren't many other options. Considered the Supra quite a bit and decided I was a bit more of a Z4 guy. But if I owned a Supra, and liked it, moving to a Z4 would be a lateral move and not worth the cost.
