Tips and tricks on track tape install?

It's going to be my first time installing track tape to my front end hood and bump.

Any tips or tricks on installing properly to avoid any paint damage or lifting of the tape at high speeds?

I bought the 6" x 100 roll. Is that enough for the front 1/3 hood and bumper areas?

TIA!

If you wait until the paint is cool you might have some residue. If you remove hot, most of the residue will be removed with the paint, but that's also when the paint on your car is softest. I prefer waiting until the paint is cool. Or just accept that going on the track does about as much damage as driving on the highway unless you are tailing someone or go into the runoff. I actually have more side road rash than front because I went sideways into the runoff.

Thanks for your experience. I was wondering about the removal part of it as well.

I've been out about a dozen times and have never used tape. I've noticed no more wear from the track than from daily driving the car.

That said, the track that I mainly run at has a lot of grass around it versus dirt/gravel in run-off areas. So there isn't much in the way of gravel that gets on the track when someone inevitably has an off-track instance.

Yeah, I never bothered with tape. But like you, the tracks I run are typically grass and rarely get any kind of dirt/gravel on them.

My guess was you are most likely in SoCal, so you would be talking about tracks like Buttonwillow, Chuckwalla or Willow Springs.

I can definitely see the need if that is the case

My times are 5-10 seconds faster in Project Cars 2 than in real life... I usually slow to around 100 - 110 for turns 8 and 9 in real life, while I can take it at 120 in the game. You know... fear of balling up my car and all lol.
