Rain X?

Does anyone use Rain X for their windshield? Is it beneficial? Or is there a better brand?

Rain X is "OK" (MUCH better than nothing) but Aquapel is far superior.

Rain-x doesn't last long. I'm using Gyeon Q2 View

Instead of lasting maybe a 2-3 weeks like Rain-x does this lasts up to 12 months on the windshield and up to 36 months on the side windows.

Does it go on the outside? Temperatures are dropping and soon will be iced up in the mornings. If I could keep the water off maybe there would be no ice to scrape in the morning?

Make sure you don't apply it over the rain sensor, or your automatic wipers won't function correctly.

Is the incorrect functioning only on BMWs (due to whatever sensor they use)? I didn't have a problem with the auto-sensing wipers on my previous car when using a windshield treatment.

Several years back, I just switched to using Rain X windshield washer fluid because of laziness; my low washer fluid warning just came on yesterday and I'm fixin to fill the reservoir with it.

In the past, I've used Aquapel, as well. IME, it lasted longer than Rain X...but there was about a 10mph difference, in favor of Rain X, between the speeds when water would begin clearing off the windshield.

My sensor works fine with rainx over it.
Must be that specific sensor.

Rainx also lasts longer than a few weeks on my car.
But its a garaged car that does 5k mile/year so useage is definately a factor.

There are far better products out there. Try Wolf's Nano Glass Sealant or Gtechniq G1.

I was Rain X fanboi. I works pretty good, but somewhat smeary, and I think it makes wipers rot faster.

I've even used the Turtle Ice detailer spray, and that works.

My s28i glass seems to work good in rain, but chips easy.

I found some 30 year old Amway glass and metal cleaner powder that really cleans up the water spots so you start with really clean glass. I think there is curusite powder or whatever sold, but I found on net Bar Keepers Friend or Bon Ami might work.

Gtechniq G1/2 is a fantastic product. I have it on my car and it's still working after 9 months.

Also applied on my daily which is parked outside exposed and still working great. No wiper chatter and makes cleaning glass easier.

I keep my windshield virgin but treat all the other glass with a sealant of some sort... Including headlights.

Don't like it at all. Possibly user error but it smears a white milky substance when it rains. Very dangerous.

If you want to see the colors of the rainbow at night when it rains , you should use rain-X .

Aquapel forms a chemical bond to the windshield that lasts up to 6 months. It even fills in micro-divots that occur from road debris. I've used it for years and swear by it, easy to apply.

Hmmm, maybe I'll go back to Aquapel.

One thing I also like to do before treatment is go over the glass with some 1Z Einzett Glass Polish + a glass polishing pad.

That doesn't affect the rain sensor?
