Will repeat I said there was no way I would buy a piggy in the BMW threads. Sold out when I had access to one for an afternoon. Have no quarrel with anyone who thinks they are ugly as I initially felt that way myself.
IMHO, the piggy nose does look as bad in a dark color with the shadowline accent.

Agree, It why I chose the Dravit Gray with the shadow line. IIRC shadow line was standard with a no charge option to not have it.

GerryC My neighbor has a M440i. It's primarily his car, but they will go out with a couple kids stuffed in the back. When the whole family goes out, they have to take the X7.
Am 5'10" 205 lbs. I drive with my wrists able to rest on the steering wheel. With seat in that position I am comfortable in the back seat.

With the roof up its a PITA to get in & out. That said have had BMW 2 door cars since 2004. If I had to count on my fingers how many times the back seat was occupied by a human instead of a few dogs I might still have a few fingers left over.

Current SUV is an Expedition MAX

I believe an SUV should be a big box with a strong motor & awd with high & low ranges. Have had Expedition XL's & Suburbans with a large engine option as my primary people, stuff & trailer mover.

Usually keep them about 10 years. The Expedition came early as my few years old Suburban died in high water surge at the beach during a hurricane. During the parts shortage there were no Suburbans to buy. Local FORD dealer had two Expedition MAX's on the lot. Cashed the Chevys insurance check & drove one home.

My neighbor opted for the 440i GC several years ago (pre-pig nose) for his DD. He did want the 4-door for times when hauling kids (they have 5 kids, though the oldest is in college.) His wife was driving an Odyssey as the family hauler, but switched to the X7 several months ago.

In our case, there's just the two of us and we're retired. My wife loves the X5 as it's big enough but not too big. I'm happy with the Z4 as it's a convertible and it has enough room to handle day-to-day transportation and shopping.

Just noticed the family size of your neighbor. Not really familiar with the GC's have never looked at them. But a family of 5 is one two many for a 4 series Convertible or Coupe. Pretty sure most of them are 4 passenger cars.

My car has no headrest or seatbelts in the middle rear section of the seat.

The M8 the other line with a convertible is a split with the coupe rated at 5 the convert at 4. That said 5 seats is considered very optimistic in the M8 Coupe. Reality its a 4 seater.

Additionally the M8 convertible has less rear head & leg room than my car. Rear seat is much like the rear seat 911, good for the puppies.

At least the M8 has the cup holders in the right spot. The cup holders in the Z4 are useless.

Wife absolutely hates the cup holder situation in the Z4 lol, less of a problem for the driver but still awkward positioning.

Must have been a design limitation, cause putting cup holders in the same location as the 8 series would be idea, wireless phone charger should have been in armrest area

M4 does & maybe also the M440 have the same design.

Since the Z4 is a derivative of that car maybe a console swap with a wrecking yard piece might work.

I liked the cupholder situation because I could hold 3 beverages. But to each their own. Definitely better than the P cars.

Agreed. It would have been a much better arrangement that way round

Eh, I like the cupholder on my Boxster (picked up the Z4 yesterday BTW but have been fairly busy with visiting family).

Congrats on the pick up. Would love to see some pictures once the decks have cleared

I'd be thrilled with no cup holders if i could remove them from the z to make that storage area more usable.

I had this same setup in my M340. These aren't perfect either, because if you had a taller cup they wouldn't fit.

Any cup holder in that location is better than where they have it now.

Back in 2004 when they released the new body 6 series convertible there was a removable cup holder that attached to the passenger side of the console which would have been an ideal solution for the G29.

I quite like them in the console but that could be because i’m the only one ever in the car. Had a passenger once in the last 2 years. Hmmmmm. maybe my driving scared them away…🤣🤣🤣

Even if you are driving alone and you only have the passenger side of it open you can’t comfortably rest your right arm on the top of the console. 👎🏻

Even more so for me because I always have an additional cushion on top of the Centre console so that I can rest my arm on it and still hold the steering wheel fairly high up.
But that’s my own fault I guess, not the car.
