Controller not working with Waze

Today for the first time I saw the following message on my display when I opened Waze.

After I opened the app on my iPhone and the map appeared on the display my controller still wasn't recognized when I turned it and I had to use the touch screen which is a major PIA!

Any suggestions on how to fix this glitch will be greatly appreciated.

I'd consider uninstalling/reinstalling if it's not working consistently between phone and car projection.

I never registered my Waze account so if I do that I will lose all of my saved addresses.

Try rebooting your iphone. When mine gets wonky that usually takes care of it.

It should still sync if you do create an account now. But otherwise, yeah you're beholden to keep migrating manually.

When you open an app on an iPhone it asks when you want the app top have access to your location. If you selected to share location "only when using the app" then you'd probably get a message like this . I personally don't know if this is the reason but its the only thing I can think of that makes sense. Try checking your location services and select "always share location" with the app.
