Yes it is a M product. All Mxxx models are also desinged by M. Just look here: https://www.bmw-m.com/de/topics/all-models.html

Maybe there are no FWD M's yet but there are FWD biased M-cars available.
You must be kidding me right now . Do you see the Mxxx as a real M products? I see them only as BMW more sportier look for the front and rear bumpers . A 2010 E92 335i wasnt called M335i , after Mercedes started naming the C43 and A35 as Amgs then bmw came and did something close to them by calling them M performance/ lite cars . But as an M product? Come on is the same as the 335i just add the budge everywhere. Everyone knows what is an M car , it also looks like a whole different story .
Yeah!

Not sure this will drive better than A45 or S3.
It's a same fwd. I don't think BMW 4 cylinder is any better than Merc or Audi (VW).

Great insight into what the next 2 series will look like.

I'll be keeping my M2C. I'm not a fan of those new center consoles.

Okay. If they ever ask you again, the answer is "M3 Touring" ok?
BMW's response - "You all want M wagons but we've got the next best thing! The new M3 Gran Tourismo!"

No I don't but BMW does. The Mxxx models are requested by BMW to have a certain set of drive characteristics and then M GmbH designs them as requested.

You do know that a regular 330i can be equipped with all of the same equipment as an M340i (except for tire and cooling package) and pretty much have the same handling but with less power.

The M340i is essentially a 340i with the M-Sport pack.

Same thing with the M550i. And if they are requested to certain driving characteristics by M GmbH, then the M550i is a fail of an M car.

So are 2 and below keeping the 35i nameplate while 3 and up goes to 40i? Seems confusing.

You must be blind to the sales of the A3 and CLA. BMW is growing, not polluting.

More sales is ultimately better for the models you like.

Try to expand your thinking....
Not so sure. The G8x is a total MESS. Just saying

Is this the new Ford Fiesta sedan? It looks pretty good.

Odd that there are BMW badges on it though.

WTHell? ?!!

There were so many high hope of this thing being a spiritual successor to the E30 sedan...
... now it looks like a overly expensive Ford Fiesta berline, it's not even funny...

This thing looks so bad... i dont care how good it drives or how powerful, i would rather have the Civic even... at least it was meant to be ugly from the start while i can still save money

The proportions looks like a Nissan Versa

This 2-series is a total let down...

Barf...

No thank you...

Makes the Mazda 3 seem like an easy choice here:

The Mazda 3 is much more pleasing to the eyes...

I know but it doesn't change the fact of how BMW considers the model range.

Just listen to Paul

Given the relative success of the 2 coupe. I was hoping they would have drawn their inspirations from Paul's old rendering.

Then again, that was a proposed RWD car, so the body wouldn't necessarily work with the drivetrain.

Not at all. M135i, M235i and X2 35i are all 4 cylinder FWD biased xDrive cars. The M240i, M340i, Z4 M40i and other x40i's are 6 cylinder RWD ord RWD biased xDrive cars.

the 35i is now represents BMW's transverse 4 cylinder engine that produces a little over 300 hp, the 40i is an inline 6 designation (formely as a 35i)
