That B9.5 RS5 Sportback though

Never really liked Audi but came across this in the recommended feed.

I think I still like the design on the RS7 better

They're still putting the engine in front of the struts I see.

This may sound dumb but I really don't like the hexagon pattern thing Audi is putting in all of their cars (same goes for Lambo) and the center screen looks out of place and not well integrated. Like the RS6, RS7, and RSQ8 better personally. They'll be good buys when they're half price in a few years.

Love this much more than the RS7. The rear end of this car just comes together much better.

ok design

just lacking performance. its basically M5 weight with an f80 M3 type of engine and power. and yeah the engine is in the wrong place.

Yeah, they always were some kind of “non-class leading” drivetrain wrapped into somewhat good looking sheet metal. The new one is just too Kiaesque, though.

"The new RS5" is a bit misleading. Its just a mid cycle refresh, B9.5.

Are you sure it's a new RS5? Looks like the current RS5 is see driving around.

It's just a mild mid-cycle refresh. I had my 2019 parked next to a new one the other day at the dealership and it's fairly minor in person. I actually think the pre refresh looks a little more aggressive (the B9.5 looks too much like the S5/A5...or visa versa, they look too much like the RS). Happy I didn't wait for the refresh.

Plus they got rid of MMI knob and went full touchscreen.

Such a great looking car, Audi nails their Sportback designs. The new RS7 in particular is stunning, especially in person.

It’s the flat, aerodynamic shape combined with the huge looking wheels that make RS7 look attractive. Sadly not very quick, so tune is a must.

I agree, but it's bloody expensive, even compared to the AMG E63 wagon.

The RS5 SB might give up a little handling to the BMW M3/M4, but it more than makes up for that with the hatch that adds like 500% more utility to the car. BMW just doesn't "go there" with their Grand Coupe and they refuse to make/bring over a hot wagon, so Audi wins all these rounds.

Interesting, it shows how tastes really vary, it's such a personal thing.
I feel Audi get some spot on(R8, RS5 coupe, RS6 and RS4) I think the RS5 4 door in the pic looks badly proportioned, imo. 4 door cars and coupes rarely work well, as they look like a hodge podge between a wagon and a proper coupe to me.
The rear 1/4 particularly looks too cramped and fussy.
