A big grill doesn't have to be ugly. I always liked the front end of these, this grill looks like the intake of a jet engine. It serves a purpose - to cool the big block behind it. What purpose does this IX grill serve again??

Bra this car is so out of left field. The entire internet hates this car, not just Bimmerpost guys.

Im glad it has the iDrive controller, but regards to the 2AT spy shot, we won't have it for long time anymore until it dies.

Remove the BMW badge, and the iX looks like an Kia. Sorry to say, but BMW has lost it, and the customer experience/services are terrible.
This is a BMWi vehicle so the design language follows on from that used within the earlier i3 and i8 models.
Therefore traditional BMW design elements are interpreted differently to a standard BMW as the general idea behind the iconic design features do not feature in any way as this was intentional.

May I ask what they are smoking at Munich?

When Porsche continues to re-define future driving dynamics with introduction of EV such as Taycan, BMW introduces EV SUVs to appeal to soccer moms who complain about steering weight. I think it's safe to say BMW is lost in substance.

i drive an electric smart car. it has an 18kwh battery. i switched to a "time of use" plan with my power company. electricity is 13 cents a kilowatt hour, but between the hours of 4pm-9pm, i get charged 39 center a kilowatt hour. basically, it costs me about $2.34 for a full charge. thats just enough to get me by for the day.
i simply don't charge my car between 4pm-9pm, and set it to not charge during those hours if i plug in.

to expand on this, in the warmer months, i pre-cool my house before 4pm, then the thermostat automatically sets to a higher temp to only kick on if the house is above 77*. then at 9pm, it goes back down to 72*.

The other weirdness is the front wheel arch flare (or lack of). The large straight down chop is trying to do 'modern' by it makes it looks tall when it needs to look less tall.

The wheel arch treatment is Peugeot 207 and its ugly.

What a mess.
From the angle of the photo it has a Cullinan look to it...in the right spec it can be a thing....agree to disagree I guess

I agree, but sadly the general car buying public does not see it the same. The faster the car, the better, even if they'll never use the speed. Just look at all of the Tesla vs Supercar drag race and the comments made by the fanboys. Today's set of buyers seem to equate fun to the fastest 0-60, not steering feel, handling, weight balance, etc or other items that you or I would.
If you think BMW has good steering feel, is a driver's car anymore, or are not aware Tesla has 50/50 then you've clearly never driven a driver's car (or a Tesla for that matter). The new M3 is the same weight as a performance model 3, and the Model 3 has lower center of gravity.

Not sure what you are trying to say.

I said that today's buyers don't care about handling or feedback but simply top speed. Wasn't saying anything about which car is better.

BMW iX ad campaign mocks its customers

That's amazing. Sorry if this is a repost but saw this morning a post on it from Robert Mitchell. I cant imagine who is running BMW Twitter account but this is pretty funny to go after your customers this way.

After seeing the G82, i purchased a real SUV, the new Jeep Wrangler JL and kept my F82.

It also comes with a ZF 8 spd auto.

really attractive actually - inside and out.
the large vertical grille works well in the SAV execution.
very interested to drive it.
BMW appears to have nailed this one.

Probably some woke account manager got carried away with his meme's and got a corporate slap from Munich. Sense of humour = design. Who would have thought.

the whole thing with BMW getting political and shaming its customers into buying the ugly ix (is it 9 series?) is the dumbest thing Ive seen all week.

Last thing I want from my car company is to teach me morals about anything. Give me this ix for free, and Ill be happy to get on board. But you want my money and you tell me how to think? good luck.

But even the i3 and i8 have traditional BMW elements. It has the shoulder line, it has normal sized splitted grills, it has the hoffmeisterknick (except of the i3), it has corona rings (U-design).

I have two friends that worked on a BMW dealership, and they have been BMW fans for years. They both drives an e-tron fastback today, because they think BMW are in wrong direction. Me either was planning to order an "iX", but it won't happen after this. I drive BMW and BMWi today, but this is just tragic.

One compliment though; the crystal iDrive-controller is the sexiest controller ever made. Good job!
