Extended warranty. What's Missing?
Thinking about buying a 2016 X3 out of warranty and dealer has extended warranty they can sell me. The second price quoted on the sheet includes everything in this list. Anything major missing? I don’t see “struts” but I do see variable dampening suspension.. this car doesn’t have variable suspension but would struts be included in that?

Struts and shocks aren't usually a covered item. They are wear and tear items like brakes.

$1900 for Z years?
Did you get quotes outside of dealer? You can get $2500 for 5 years in other places. Also, try to find insurance that covers ALL BUT the items listed. This is covering NONE BUT the items listed. There are things that fall outside the list and you’re not covered if so. E.g. I had an issue with a wastegate, which is part of the turbo, but because the list only talked about “turbocompressor” it was a fight to get it covered, and very stressful. If the list was exclusive of items, it wouldn’t have been an issue (since no listel would exclude wastegate). I don’t recommend paying $1,000 for the sensor coverage as the sensor is $350~500, so you’re essentially pre-paying for 2 of them ahead of them actually failing, doesn’t seem like wise insurance. |

Is this a warranty directly associated with BMW? If not, I'd certainly not do it unless you like fighting with warranty companies. If it were me, I wouldn't waste my money on this and just sock the $2K away for a rainy day repair fund.

Never buy a warranty that isn't "exclusionary" aka the Platinum warranty. Get a quote from a reputable Fidelty Platinum seller, that is your best option if buying aftermarket. Should be able to get 50-55% off the retail price easily.
