It's not the best looking car. But with that record settinf nurburgring lap time, this thing is going to fly out the doors of dealerships even at 100k mark up.

....dosen't corner worth a shit with your hard-on jammed in the steering wheel.

Seriously, I love my Z4MC for lots of reasons that I have listed here before. Having said that I'd love another 911. The wife and I were talking about it today in fact. I think the only one I'd be happy with is sooooo far out of my price range that It'll never happen unless I win the lottery (talking Singer here). Further to this point, I love the MB GTS (R), and they are almost within the range of possibility, unique enough which is one of the things I love about the Z and an effin' beast.

Peace out my fellow auto enthusiasts.

I don't think he'll be thrashing this... This is something BMW has not done and unlikely to do anytime soon.. A real super car. It's also reasonably priced (I think). On my list of cars to possibly get maybe in 3-5 yrs

Amazing car. I personally absolutely love the design and styling.

Can't say for sure if the GT R will have similar resale value as the S, but 2016 GT S with sub 3500 miles are going for...$110k! Wtf, MSRP on the GT S is $148k+. I guess it's true, MB values do drop like a rock within first 2-3 years of ownership.

The GT S actually starts at $ 131K. And no one in 2016 pays MSRP for a car anymore (with a handful of exceptions). Figure average transaction on one of these is in the $ 118-126K, they seem to be holding their values quite well.

Given the universally positive reviews of the GT R, I'm sure values are likely to stay high for some time to come. Rumors are the European market production for 2017 is already spoken for.

Whoops, you're right on the base pricing. What I meant was, the 'for sale' GT S I saw is listed at $110k, with a original MSRP of $148k or so. There are multiple cars.com listings with similar mileage and MY, priced around $110k.

Individuals who buy this particular type of vehicle most likely will not purchase a stripper type of vehicle, as some of the M3/4 guys do. But this is a apples/oranges comparison, $70kish car vs $120+k vehicle, and two totally different type of car. After options, these vehicles seem to price at around $148k MSRP. My M4 on order is a stripper. If I bought a GT S, I'm adding options.

Checked cars.com and there seem to be 3-4 GT S's that are priced that low. Suggesting these few are the exception and not the norm. If I were in the market for one, these 3-4 cars are ones I'd avoid. Gotta wonder why they are priced so differently compared to the rest of the market.

I'm sure the car is great to drive, and it'd obviously fast, but this thing just does nothing for me. Especially in the looks department. I'd take a nicely equipped 911 S any day over this thing.

Or if I really wanted a front-engine brawler that actually looked good, a Jag F Type.

MB is known to drop in value rather quickly than other luxury brands, so it is, and isn't, surprising. Guy on MBworld mentioned that he bought a 1 owner, 3 year old CPO S63 for 67k, original sticker price of 158k. Two diff types of vehicle when comparing an S63 vs AMG GT S (one being more mass produced than the other), but it gives you an idea of the residual values of most MB cars, AMG or not. And on higher priced vehicles, a 30% drop in value is far more significant than a $40k vehicle, obviously.

I personally like the design of this car. If I find a low mileage 2-3 year old GT S that was driven by a older retired gentleman for under $100k, I'll seriously consider it.

An older retired gentleman may not be driving the car like you imagine.
