Thanks

Just came back from another mountain night run.

Ahh didn’t even know how much I missed the stick… so much more engaging !
The car is so well planted…

And the beeping!! It’s gone. Just have to hold the SET button on the wheel for 3 seconds before every drive

I know what you mean, I had ceramic brakes on a 911 and they were signified by having yellow brake calipers.

But from a purely aesthetic point of view, I think an orange color looks great with San Reno. Adds a splash of color and avoids the Xmas issue of having red. I’m not so keen on gold tbh

Some thoughts about the colour.

It is special.

In the shadow it looks nearly like a Uni color - like Porsches Brewster green -non metallic

When the sun hits it, it looks very metallic with golden tones - sublime.

Strongly reminds me of Porsches oak green metallic than.

The effect comes from the placement of the metallic particles which are not mixed into the green but rather on top just underneath the clear coat.

I love the color. However I still think that black or gold calipers would be the perfect fit.

Hmm, at first I didn't like the sound of the gold calipers, but when you put it that way... yes, I think you're right, they could go well with the car

Thoughts about the driving experience

It still isn’t go time as I have only put 500 km on it so far, so till I reach over 2000 km I cannot really test it to its full potential.

But what I can say is that the clutch is perfect, neither to soft nor too hard. And the point of engagement is perfect for me.
The steering is very precise. What is immediately noticeable,is how you feel at ease and one with the car.

It feels very planted.

The limit in fast corners seems far away at least for me.

I thought the gearing could be a bit shorter but today I drove with a colleague who has driven quite a lot of manual Porsches, and he says that the gearing is perfect /even better than some Porsches he knows .

This. I can't wait for the shorter gearing. In my Boxster GTS 4.0, I would have gone to jail if I got caught redlining in 3rd gear, and there where still 3 more gears

If I wasn't on the highway it was 1st and 2nd only unless I was shifting just because I wanted to shift more.

Sorry for the misunderstanding … my poor English..

I meant the gear shifts are snappy.

I couldn’t tell you about the gearing yet because till 2000 it will only see 4500rpm

Another example of how they subtly use colors to create status symbols.

Manufacturers know that owners of premium models, trims, editions, etc. want everyone to know what they've got, a very effective marketing trick for pushing high profit models.

Personally, I'd love to see manufacturers offer brake caliper color options for all trim levels, enabling owners to add a pop of color to match or contrast the body color. In a way, BMW does that by offering the performance package on the s30i with blue or red calipers.

Of course, most manufacturers will never do that (caliper color options) for stated reasons, exclusivity. That's why there is an aftermarket for caliper paint kits. If it was less of a pain to do it, I'd paint my calipers in a color to match my magma interior. It would add a touch of color without offending M purists thinking I'm trying to disguise my s30i as an M model.

Congratulations the car looks spectacular. You might want to consider gloss black on the brakes. I think it would look quite good.

Mama Mia!!!

Congratulations on the beautiful Z4! Your pictures with the mountains and lake are epic. I’d enlarge a couple, put them in nice frames and hang them up in the garage.

These two really grab my attention. The way the green water and trees play off the car contrasted with the white snow is Excellent work!

The rarity of a Z4 with the body color and brakes make it look fantastic and you have no worries of ever seeing yourself coming and going.
