The Hollywood-Elite University Cheating Scandal

It seems Hollywood is at it again...

The Holier-than-thou-wood is, once again on the back foot with regard to their actual behavior vs. what they want for the general public and it couldn't be more glaring. Please chime in.

Not surprised. This should be another reminder that the rich elite will go to any lengths to get their way.

Oh....and nice example they are setting for their kids. Make them go do some REAL community service hours as punishment. Homeless shelter, Orphanage, Battered women shelter, or good ole clean up crew on the Highway (Road gang style)!!!!!!

I’m not sure it’s simply a Hollywood elite thing. I think it’s a, your wealth far exceeds your integrity thing.

I’ve known of students with wealthier backgrounds bribe their professors with money for a better grade, or rich parents stepping in and having “talks” with facility members of a university to persuade them...It’s not unusual, for example, for high profile athletes to get a pass either despite sometimes poor academic performance and effort in the classroom. This does not surprise me at all.

I guess ordinary folks like me who worked hard (for the most part), played by the rules (for the most part), and achieved a modest level of success are loving the fact that the laws and their own arrogance bit these "elite" in the ass bigtime.

I'm sure they rationalize it by "wouldn't you do anything for your kids?"

Agreed, this isn't a Hollywood thing.

This is I'm rich and I can do whatever I want.

Ok, I read this and all I could think of was... "You can get 20 years in prison just for trying to bribe your kid into some college?". This was the only thing that made me mad about the story, that is some true prison planet type bullshit.

I guess I'm supposed to be outraged or something, but as I get older one thing life has taught me is that cheating is rampant across the board in almost everything. The impact something like this has on my life is nonexistent, so let's maybe spend those law enforcement man hours on something a bit more important?

I dunno I got nothin.

It looks like it was only a few "hollywood elites" and mostly just rich assholes.

But ironically, not rich enough to donate a building like how the really wealthy have done it for years. At least that method might have at least helped pay for some other more deserving students to attend.

I honestly hope they are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

If any of them had been better parents then maybe they could have saved a few hundred grand and still gotten Johnny into a good school (like the rest of us).

The working people will be punished the worse.

The rich will just get fined and buy their way out of jail time.

I guess you have to donate a building to get away with this stuffs. Yup, it takes a building to buy off the justice system. $15K from some actress is not enough and will land you in jail.

College lacks transparency and accountability from admissions to financial aid and scholarships, through to graduation (and alumni systems even). This is a small sliver. I’m not even sure this is technically a bribe since you can “buy” so much at a college with “donations” anyway.

Aside from the inequality soap box he and his wife preach from, the schools caught are putting these kids in, via under the table monies, as athletes and such. I believe one of the arrested's daughter was assigned to the cheer crew, lol, and never spent a minute with the team.
The tennis coach at Texas is busted. Maybe it was USC...
And yes, money, family donations etc have always been involved but name a building or something. Don't go to some hustler.

Here is what I DON'T condone:
The FBI shows up at the one actresses house, early AM, with guns drawn. Wth?
Dumb and dumber.

Loughlin and her husband, fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, are accused of paying bribes totaling $500,000 in exchange for having their two daughters, Isabella and Olivia Jade, appear as recruits on the USC crew team, despite having no real crew experience. One million dollar bond.

Ouch.
