Software Update Problems
Hi all,
After picking up my Z4 at the weekend I could not get the message in my car to verify the connected drive app. Everything else worked fine, Spotify BMW messages etc. This morning I updated the software to the Nov 2019 & have now lost all the apps! The only ones showing are the BMW assistant and the one for calling BMW. No option to even go to the BMW store for apps. Spoke to the connected drive people and they have added my car so the app on my phone works now but I still don't have any apps in the car. Is there something I have missed doing after the software update? |

If you go into the Apps menu there is an option to update all services (I don't remember if it is in the menu itself or if you have to use the iDrive options button to get there).
This should bring the apps back.

Unfortunately I don't have the option to refresh the apps. When I hit the apps button all I have is this screen, everything else has disappeared after the software update.

Keep the "cursor" on Installed Apps without actually clicking it yet (one step before your pic). Then push the "option" button on the bottom right of the iDrive Controller. You should see a screen popping up that allows you to "Update Apps and Services".

Thanks German 1967, found the option to update the apps, it said it had updated them but it's made no difference.
I re-set the head unit a couple of times & then tried the update again but still no luck |

Weird that the software info app has appeared today, nothing else though.
I have booked a genius appointment for later today as I don't fancy disconnecting the battery after only having the car a couple of days. Hopefully it will be sorted and I can post the solution in case anyone else has the same trouble |

So, had the appointment with the "genius", think his title is stretching it a bit.
All he did was the same things as I've been advised by the helpful comments on this thread. Soft reset & refresh the apps. Advice is to leave it a few days, the apps might re-appear over the next few days. If they don't I need to book my car in to the service centre. He did manage to get my digital card working so not an entirely wasted journey. |
