Navigation
As I patiently await the arrival of our 2021 Z4 M40I which was ordered in July, I have a question regarding the navigation system. Is it possible to program a route on a computer and then transfer it to Idrive? I have a Garmin unit on our motorcycle and use a software program called Base Camp to create routes and then transfer them to the GPS.
Thanks in advance. |

You can send destinations but not routes.
You can set up multiple waypoints in the car, but not specific routes between the waypoints. I understand this used to be possible with BMW navigation but not anymore. Maybe BMW will bring this feature back if enough people ask for it. |

Doesn't sound very useful. I use the Garmin BaseCamp all the time so that I can stay off the interstates and take the more scenic route. You would think my new very expensive BMW would have the same capability. I guess I will have to take the Garmin with me.

In the nav, you can select "fastet route", "scenic route", etc. You can also select to avoid major highways, interstates, etc. No, you can't select a specific route but the system is pretty flexible. In addition, if you take your own detour, it will adjust the route based on your detour. May not be your Garmin, but I use it a lot.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I will give it a try but when planning a multi day trip it's awfully nice to be able to sit at the computer and plan it out.
