Z4 M40i Questions

Hi guys,
Having a frozen grey Z4 delivered to me this Friday. I had the previous generation Z4 from 2011-2014 and am going to be a Z4 owner again, so looking forward to that. Few questions, if anyone can help me with:
1) I dislike the cerium grey mirror housing-anyone know of any black cover mirror housing that I can purchase?
2) Is it worth it to get tire insurance? The car is equipped with 19'' wheels and will be driven in Brooklyn, NY. The 2011 Z4 had defective wheels that had to be replaced ALL the time. So what do you guys think?
3) Would anyone want to trade wheels? Car is coming equipped with 19'' double spoke cerium grey 800M. Would love to trade it for the 19'' M double spoke orbit grey 799M wheels.

Jacking the G29 Z4

Hi, I'm new here. I just purchased a new 2020 Z4 40i, and need to jack it up to put on 4 jack stands. So far I can't find jack pads for the G29 and any thing that shows other jack points. Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Personally, they can shove their wheel insurance up their asses. If my wheels bend on the Z4 M40i, I’d find the lightest and adequately durable forged monoblocks and replace the Z4 stock wheels. No way I’d keep reusing their defective wheels over and over again.

I suspect their newer wheels don’t bend, which is why they even offer the insurance now. This is really bad company policy. Basically they’re using their own bad product design from awhile ago to manipulate previous BMW owners into paying for insurance they probably won’t need. If the wheels were bad, they wouldn’t offer the insurance. Most companies are more about squeezing the throat of their customers for every last bit of money than operating responsibly and ethically. Just look at the fiasco that VW created with their baloney Diesel engine outputs.

Look at your history with cars - have you bent a wheel before? If not then I'd skip the insurance.

You could always try vinyl wrapping the mirror housings. That's a low-cost solution that you can do yourself. (And you'd get to learn about vinyl wrapping if you haven't done it before.)

Just remember that it is wheel and tire insurance. I always get it because it has paid off for me in tires.

For the mirror covers, there is always the M-Performance carbon fiber version:

I would also try your dealer's parts counter to see if the basic black can be purchased.

As for your wheel and tire insurance, wouldn't changing the wheels out invalidate such a policy?

Thanks for posting this. $350 ... for one ... ouch. Maybe a dealer let's me swap my cerium grey ones with black ones from a 2021... and then adds $$$ to sale price for dealer installed options?
(/Sarcasm off)

You can get the primed mirror caps for about $70 each. Dealer or a collision center will paint them for you, not sure about that cost.
