What are you reading lately?
Anyone else love to read? I'm addicted to good books. I mostly read fiction - crime drama, mysteries, action/political thrillers. I read more in the summer, sitting poolside or at the beach.
Some of my favorite authors are Vince Flynn (he died way too young), Greg Iles, Nelson Demille, Dean Koontz, James Patterson (for quick, easy reads), Tom Clancy, and a new guy Jack Carr - former Navy Seal. I've read so many, these are off the top of my head. I can't get into reading on my phone or a nook though. I have to have a real book, preferably a hardcover and turn those pages. Who else is with me on the joy of reading? EDIT - Wrong forum, sorry.

I have a few books queued up on my Kindle app (iPad). Other than work and car mags, all my reading is electronic. I read so much for work that leisure reading is really just airports and airplanes these days.
Oh, and this board! |

For someone who claims to enjoy reading as much as you do, I find it slightly ironic that you didn't "read" which forum you were posting this in.
But being the magnanimous soul that I am, I'll not dwell on it further. ![]() I really enjoyed Clancy while he was alive, some of my other favourites are John Grisham, and Jack Higgins. Check out one of Jack Higgins novels that has Sean Dillon in it - preferably one of the older ones if you can find it. Most of his novels have the Sean Dillon character in it, but to appreciate it, you need to start near the beginning. |

I'm re-reading 2312 at home, and another Janet Evanovich at work. Someone gave me their Kindle to fix at work, they had bricked it. Google and a few choice button pushes and it was fixed! But she had already purchased a new one, so she let me keep it. I never changed her account name so I have to read whatever she gets. Every day at lunchtime I read while eating, unless someone takes me out to lunch (so every damn day)
I'm more Sci-Fi, but a decent crime novel will work as well. Another series on the Kindle I read a lot were the Scarpetta crime dramas, can't remember the author. While I will use that Kindle, I still prefer a book in my hands. |

I would love to be able to read more but I have the hardest time sitting still long enough to actually read, but I do enjoy it. Imagine a small child after drinking espresso.....this sums up my mind pretty well. I have read a little Koontz, Lovecraft and Tolkien. The last book I read was The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck, enjoyable read.
My oldest son loves to read. I must say that it made me raise an eyebrow to the fact that he was reading Lorenzo Carcaterra when he was 12. |

Just finished the most recent Mitch Rapp book. I don't think I like the new author as much as I liked Flynn's writing - but I appreciate him for carrying on the storyline/characters.

I just can't get into the new author. I loved Flynn's writing style and the character Rapp. Some of the earlier books blew me away. I just couldn't put them down. The one when he met his wife...WOW. I'm about 3/4s through the latest one and it just isn't the same.

![]() That man can write! I wish he could knock them out a little quicker though. I should be receiving his latest one today. I want to keep it for beach week with the girls but there is no way I'll be able to hold out until June. He had a bad accident a few years back. Is he in a wheel chair or he recovered?

MK - What about Lee Child? Did you ever read the Jack Reacher series? The earlier books were kick ass. I haven't been able to finish his last few though.
And Dan Brown? Angels and Demons was a great read.

I'm doing a little light reading......Rise and fall of the third reich (Shirer).
I also love Larry Niven, David Weber, Tolkien, John Keegan, Heinlein, some Clancy (especially Red Storm Rising), and the first 2 Richard Marchinco books (1 non-fiction, the other fiction). Also love Martin Cruz Smith (Gorky Park is awesome) and of course the Game of Thrones books.

I love both of those. I need to pick up the rest of the Reacher Series. I've completed the first 3.
