Love the responses from the F8x folks. Thanks for reminding me that not all communities on the post are equal in their membership quality.
The M3/4 is not a bad car. However, it is inferior to the other options out there, and as a result of it's price when considering this, embarrassing. Do you challenge that as a company it would be embarrassing to have spent everything to develop a (thanks to stiff competition) bottom in class car? What's embarrassing to BMW doesn't necessarily translate to the owners. I'm glad you all enjoy your cars. I certainly enjoy mine. Unfortunately, assuming that when we were talking about corporate BMW decisions that it was instead directed as a personal insult indicates serious confidence issues or a lack of maturity. We're all enthusiasts here, I very much doubt there are many folks out to personally insult. Lol no, no it's not. You are posting in the Universal Forums: General BMW News/Discussions subforum.

That looks great! Can't wait to see the next gen Z cars, especially if they can scale down the chunk a little.

Not sure who put the burr under your saddle. I still disagree with your "embarrassing" assessment. I saw no personal insult in your assessment of the standing of the M3/4, just disagreed with that. I apologize for not knowing what forum I am in. At the top of my thread it says: BMW M3 and BMW M4 Forum > BIMMERPOST Universal Forums > General BMW News and Cars Discussion > BMW scraps Z2 plan for bijou MX-5 rival LOL

Sorry you take so much offense to my comments. Also, my response was directed to the general F8x user body. I don't recall mentioning you in my posts.

You also seem to be the one taking offense. If the C63 is a better car for you, then go buy one. Simple as that. We prefer the M3. When you tell us it's not as good as the C63 we can only laugh at you. ESPECIALLY when you don't own either one.

Umm, they were not that successful in the USA
They did not sell that many Z3/4 especially the M model. BUT, those were some really nice BMWs. They need to have the balls to come up with something like the MX-5 but with one of their newer turbo motors at 280+hp and manual and make it under 2900 lbs. They won't be able to keep up with the demand for such a car in the USA. Makes me wonder why they are not doing it.

And I think the z2 axe is good. I would be looking to move the next gen z4 down market to bridge the gap between the z2/4. 50k well equipped would make a strong case

No it's not. This was posted in the universal forums, which appear on all the Bimmerpost forums. It's been pretty annoying having to filter through the same tired old F80/E92 pissing match bullshit trying to figure out how this impacts the upcoming BMW roadster lineup.

OK, so Z2 is cancelled, but what about the rest of the roadster lineup? What about the rumored carbon-tub Z3? Was the Z2 killed to make room for this car? Seems like we're getting a really incomplete picture here.
IMO, it never really made sense for BMW to come to market with a FWD roadster, so I'm glad to see it dead. Mazda sells plenty of Miatas to people who couldn't care less whether it's FWD or RWD, but there is another segment of buyers who do care that it's RWD. By basing the Z2 off a FWD platform, they were excluding buyers in an already microscopic segment. That never made sense to me.

Really not trying to come off as defensive or sound like an M3 fan boy, i am just trying to be as objective as possible. I would just like you to explain such a blanket statement that the M3 is at the bottom of the class and tell me what i should be considering instead. |

Current car still running good, and that's good since I see no replacement options yet. Front wheel drive is not an option and I'm glad they dumped the Z2. The Current E89, too big.
