Atlantis over ivory buckets
I had too many black and white cars so summer fun cars need to be bright and colourful now. I’m really hoping the other green is Isle of Man green. That was a contender when I was specking my M4 and I think a green would suit the Z4 quite well. |

Beautiful car. Love the color. Much nicer than the Storm Trooper M4 I saw the other day (white w/shadowline and black wheels.)

While I am not in the market for this car, it warms my hart to see that BMW put a MT in the Z4. I admit, I'm very surprised...perhaps there is hope for BMW yet!

1. The ride was very jarring, but still floaty. It always felt like the tires couldn't keep contact with the pavement. 2. The driving feel was odd - like the cars pivot point was the rear axle. When you'd turn, you'd kind of have to wait for the whole front of the car to swing around and the rest of the car to catch up. I've driven other long-hooded cars like the S2000, but this was the only one that had that feel. And then there was the steering feel/feedback, which didn't exist. 3. The combination of N54 turbo lag combined with the weird DCT programming meant that sometimes when you'd punch the gas, the car would just sit there... for 2-3 seconds. 4. The wheels were notorious for cracking. I lost 2 on Seattle streets. 5. Worst electrical problems I've had in a car since the E46. My LED tail lights failed multiple times. 6. I had a leaking adjustable damper that had to be replaced. I completely understand why BMW did not make a E89 Z4M. Brilliant car for cruising along the beach at 20MPH with the top down; not much else. The G29 is a very worthy car and chassis though, and the only reason we haven't seen the full M treatment now is the damn bean counters.

I’ve grown to like colours and contrast, black wheels aren’t for me… but I also like rarity and a sense of occasion, hence Atlantis, hence MT. The Z is a bit of a funny situation. The only Z specific colours are San Francisco red and frozen san remo green. Call me vain but I don’t want a colour that can be had on any other bmw or supra. Where I live there’s actually quite a few Zs in all different colours. But my store knows I’m not interested until spring of 2025, too much else going on at the moment |

But we’ll wait to see what the non-frozen green is. If it’s Isle of Man Green then I’d probably go for that, it’s a lot brighter than San Remo Green and IMG is an M colour. So not 100% sure! Fire orange would be awesome, but I don’t think thats going to happen |

This car is such a wasted opportunity for BMW. Every time I look at it, in the Configurator, I cant get excited building one out. It just looks so meh. The rim choices are 5 years old, the colors arent "fun". The bumpers are fussy. YEs interior is nice vs the desktop setup in modern cars , but... I dunno. Looks like Fiat version of the MX5. BMW should go really brave with this car, and by brave I mean beautiful.
Or may be noone buys them and in BMW line up this is really the dog. I see a Supra on the road and it certainly has a wow effect on me just how that coupe and rear stance looks. I dunno, hoping for a shooting break version with new front. Car deserves more.

Well, it’s the most beautiful car BMW makes at the moment. Go drive one and see what you think.

Gear ratios
So does anyone know if the Z4 is using different gear ratios than the current M2?.. obvious from watching reviews that gears are long on the MT M2.. and shorter on the 8speed auto.. LONG gears are awful and is the downside owning a Porsche Spyder/GT4 MT

The gearing will be the same it always is from BMW. I love the gearing on my M3. They are not long. Porsche GT4 1st goes up to 52mph, 2nd gear goes to 85 mph and 3rd to 121. M3 is 40/72/108.

And yes, for buyers like me, we really want the full-M treatment with an aggressive front/rear design. I think the current look is classy, but I'd love something more aggressive. Shooting break would be cool, but I really want the roadster myself. I never got to own an E85 Z4M Roadster which was always a bit of a unicorn to me. That's really what I want here. I get that the Supra is for some people but... absolutely no from me. I don't like the looks, I don't like Toyota, I want a roadster. I'm still going to be *beyond* disappointed if the GRMN Supra gets a S58 and the Z4 doesn't.
