I have a paper due at the end of the semester for Sociology, and I need a topic that is a Social issue going on, what is a good one to write about that will give me plenty of data to research for a thorough paper, I dont want something thats not popular that will take forever to piece some data together.

Anywho, seriously, Egypt turning off the internet. The power of a country to disconnect its entire population from the rest of the world. How some dialup ISPs have stepped up the plate from other countries to allow free access for egyptians. How unless they can take down the entire landline network, they cant really cut their country off entirely. How they did leave 1 ISP active because the egyptian stock market mainly runs off it. How social media has led to uprisings in multiple countries.

You could write about juvenile deliquency and kids getting into gangs. thats all socially related. I have a paper to write for my soc 348 class and im gooing to write it on that.

family life + school + media+ community+low self esteem/self image = kids in gangs or acting in gang like behaivor. typically starts off with tagging, smoking drugs, then after the teens it gets more serious.

you could also talk about how kids, in California at least, are not really punished for petty thefts, burglaries, smoking underage, tagging etc if they are under 18. at worst they get probation and this could be either good or bad. I think bad because then they think they can get away with shit and only their parents pay a silly ticket.

showing initiative and digging up good information on a less-popular, but relevant subject might be the difference between a B and an A. your professor would probably be impressed--you'd stand out in a positive way

Yea, this teacher only wants us to research in Sociology journals, and nothing else. "it will take approx. 10 hours of research to find one source that is worthy of being in the paper" which is what she told us because she is so picky about how she wants it done, and I need 5 solid sources.

Only reason I asked about MJ is because I already know so much about it, but I think learning about something new might be better for me anyways

and its APA format, which I wont enjoy

I read that death penalty states are running out of drugs and some of em are using drugs used to sedate animals now .. Others are reconsidering the firing squad. Don't know how much you can find on it but deff a social topic imo
