Ha! I had an early FE Emira ordered and was one of the first in line. When the delays started (and are ongoing for North America), and when the early reviews came out with all of the issues, I switched to the Z4. Part of the enjoyment of a car is being able to drive it. The Emira dealer was an hour away in Philly. Just not worth the risk for a more "exotic" car. YMMV

What were the issues? Genuinely curious. I watched Harry’s delivery videos and drive around Europe and was considering it. But seems overpriced for a Toyota engine that’s not well integrated, and the driving dynamics might be fantastic but doesn’t seem that fast or interesting for the price point. That said, manual + lightweight + rear bias = cool package.

Poor to zero communication from HQ. Blistering paint. AC cutting out. Stereo not premium. Window leaks, etc. Uncertain supply of parts. Emphasis on delivering to China and on EV development.

Just too many questions for someone who would be pushing the budget just for a beautiful car.

Just like you, my first order was in December 2021, canceled in March this year after too many delays, and ordered my Z4. Got a call from the Lotus dealer in Dallas that the base will be available soon. Nothing to lose as the deposit is fully refundable, I placed another order and this time I'm in no time crunch, having a beautiful car to wait and see. I also have a 718 GTS on order with about the same time frame of 18-24 months....enough time to make up my mind or stick to what I got.
