Another Case of Supra Getting Press Instead of Z4
https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews...d%20Last%2030D
Supra gets linked to other high performance vehicles in a high performance test article instead of Z4. Seems like BMW missed an opportunity. They’re actively supporting Unicorn status. 🤷‍♂️ |

Z4 isn’t an M car, Toyota Supra is the “better” track weapon and Toyota has no other dedicated sports car capable of this level of performance. For the Supra/Z4 platform as a whole, it makes sense to track test the Supra opposed to the Z4 if best possible numbers are concerned. BMW will throw its M cars into serious competition when needed and rightfully so. Don’t think we will see the Z4 in comparison tests unless it’s up against other convertibles. With the shrinking 2 seater vert market drying up, those comparisons are few and far between. |

Agree that for "performance comparisons", the default is to use the coupé instead of the convertible. If you look at, for example, the Porsches, all of them are non-vert variants.
Still, odd the car selection didn't have something like an M3/M4/M5 in there, those cars would do quite well in this test. |

Supra and Z4 are two completely distinct audiences IMO. Z4 is likely to be tested and reviewed along side the Audi TT, Porsche 718 Boxster, Mercedes SL, Jaguar F-Type, and Lotus Emira.

Yeah for sure, and probably even the Fiat roadster.

I was getting 25mpg out of the Fiat on my 30 minute morning commute: the same as I get with the Z4! In fact, driving it very easy in the Z4 can get more than I ever could in the Fiat.
