Digital key question for those that picked up their car recently

I wish I could help but it's been a year since I activated the digital key on my iPhone 13 so I don't recall most of it. As I recall, it was very straightforward. One thing for sure, I didn't have both key fobs in the car. I would try it with only one key fob. Also, ensure Local Network is enabled in the My BMW app settings. Other than that, I'd seek the local BMW expert at the dealership if you can't get it to work. My dealership had a designated expert to help with questions.

My digital key setup required both key fobs at least one of the times I configured it - certainly the first time. Not sure about the 2nd time.

Anyone ever get a replace digital keycard? Mine didn’t come with one, but digital key works perfectly in my iPhone 12 and Apple watch.

Finally got talking with BMW Genius. My issue is not getting iPhone to link with the Digital Key Card. Card works opening door/starting but will not link to iPhone as discussed above. BMW Genius thinks this is a Digital Card+ feature that is not implemented on 2023 Z4 M40i. He is checking with other Genius’s but I would like to hear from Bimmerpost folk if they have this feature working on their iPhone?

I’m gonna be annoyed if this is the case. I’d rather my phone work than the card.

I have a 2023 Z4. The digital key works to unlock, lock & start the car. To fix the problem, I had to delete my car my mybmw and add it back. Then the digital key activated.

I’m asking about using the KeyCard access via an iPhone. My card works as you state, but I can’t get it to integrate so I can unlock/start Z4 from iPhone.

Wondering if you ever figured this out. I got the software update done for the key when my car was in last week for a winter tire swap. I am able to get the credit card key to work fine, but I’m getting the same error message as above when trying to add it to my iPhone.

Finally Genius at BMW dealer got my Keycard working and also my iPhone & Applewatch enabled. Took lots of steps so not sure what broke the ice but pleased this option I paid $500 for now works after 1 year!
Steps included:
- Fixed a fault with battery - that may have impacted connection
- Selected reset the car from control panel so it came up as new car…had to enter bunch of stuff then
- Removed car from my BMW acct and added back in
- Said yes to all privacy selections in car (this was last thing we did so may have been essential)

Way harder than it should be but now I can unlock the car with my Applewatch, iPhone or Keycard. Won’t start with Applewatch alone but will with Keycard alone or iPhone alone if put Keycard/iPhone in charger slot.

Thanks for the response. I’m going to call tomorrow and see if I can get a pairing email sent to me. When I set this up on my previous car that’s the method I used.

I’ll let you know if that works.

Follow up. Does anyone know how to actually get the pairing email? When I called the BMW Genius line, the guy I spoke to had never heard of it. I'm still waiting on the dealer to see if they can do it.

App is giving me an errors (tried it on two phones), so was hoping the email route would work.
