Blue calipers are OG for bmw anyway. Congrats on the car! I get a lot of compliments for the magma red interior.
Nicely said. I like my magma interior contrasting with my blue calipers, Here's my car.

In fact, you should have them match the exact orange/ red shade of the seats.
Westside - I first selected the red calipers because of the red interior but I didn't realize the magma, which I have never seen in person, is orange/red. Thanks for pointing that out.

Great build by the way. Our friend SpeedyATL has the same build except with the double spoke orbit grey wheels and it looks stellar. Love my black wheels. Congrats on getting lucky - I've been super lucky myself with my last 3 cars being available on a boat or in the showroom (430 conv., M3, and Z4!).
Thanks bimmerfun82. I had a build with the orbit grey wheels but opted out with the shadowline.

t0pleess - I didn't realize the reds were different. I do like the idea that the blue calipers best represent the BMW brand. When we all think of different sport cars, porsche, ferrari, etc. they each have a color caliper that is most recognizable. For both porsche and ferrari they happen to be yellow.

Your car looks great with the red and red! I would love to see both on the car side by side but I know that is not going to happen. I may be stuck with the blues.

I think that if one was to go that route, I’d opt for something a bit more unique. Also, and I can’t say why, but a perfect match with the magma interior might look…’odd’?

I have seen some designs and also logos painted on these custom colored calipers.

I think the blue calipers go really well with the magma interior.

Congratulations!

Update: managed to find a schedule containing the Wild Rose Leader in NYK's website (link).

Looks like this is the Wild Rose Leader voyage #4, and it is scheduled to arrive in Port Hueneme on November 8. However it was also estimated to leave Europe by October 7th and it actually left on the 13th. I do believe they generally build some slack into the trans-oceanic transit times though.

p.s.: Still wish my car had been loaded onto the Hercules Leader instead though.

It’s the standard spec in Thailand and can’t be changed. Nor can any other “options” be changed, like wheels, interior colour etc. I believe it’s because the import tax on the car is pre-approved by customs and every car has to adhere exactly to that spec in order to avoid tax being individually assessed at a higher rate.

The only choice is exterior color and then all other options are as per the approved dealer choice. Makes a mockery of the BMW web site with its “build your car” function. 😂

The Wild Rose Leader is now officially scheduled to arrive at Port Hueneme on Nov 11 (makes sense, given the stop in Emden it made).

That really sucks, you should at least be allowed to choose the interior color of your car and the style of wheels that you want!

Picked up my car today. Drove around with the mrs in the afternoon. I am really impressed with the car. Plenty of power, great steering, suspension and brakes. Glad I got the blue calipers, the magma red is more orange in person. HK stereo sounds great. Love the analog presets. Car came with Michelins. Opted for the warranteed Cilajet for $1495 interior 5 yrs and exterior for life and $850 transferrable 3 yr service that includes brakes. Was told no break-in required. Throaty exhaust in sport mode. Very comfortable seats. Suprising amount of driver leg room. Love being able to put the top up and down with the key. Love the lock unlock when approaching or walking away from the car. Added the BMW logo valve stem caps.
