sorry for japanese.

If there is no adaptive button on the driving experience switch, then the adaptive mode would not work.
But if it could be voice-activated, it would work.
How did you get to that screen in the settings?

Is adaptive suspension still on the Z4?

Since the button is gone, does it now function passively based on specific roads, speed, acceleration, etc..

Forgive me if this has already been definatively answered in the thread. I tried figuring it out but starting glazing over after the 20th multi paragraph post
The suspension is the same. There is no longer the Adaptive *mode* which continually adjusts the systems based on your driving situation. Instead you have to manually switch between Comfort or Sport mode.

Checking the configurator today, I notice four buttons instead of three on the upper left side.Any idea what the second button starting from the top is for?

Hard to see that button detail. In other cars it's the camera.

Yeah, I achieve 29 mpg on the highway in comfort mode, higher in ecopro. Adaptive is a huge placebo. It literally does nothing in my experience.

Realize this is not a popular opinion.

My sport individual settings are comfort steering, comfort dampers, sport + engine and transmission. I wait until the engine warms up and then pop it in to that mode every time. We have smooth mountain roads so for those I use sport +.

I have ordered my new G29 yesterday and in the configurator page it was indeed showing an additional button there. However, when I got the QR code with the actual car's presentation, the additional button wasn't there at all. I've asked the dealership reps if they knew anything about it, but they were as curious as me. Have you found out anything about it, by any chance?

Cheers!

I picked my car up about 2.5 weeks ago, and that button is blank. As someone mentioned, in other vehicles it is used for the 360 camera. That is not available in the Z4 (at least in the US).

The 360 degrees cam is not available in Europe either.
Enjoy the car, wish you the best experience with it!

Tried the adaptive mode finally

So after owning the car for almost 4 years and reading all these posts about how awesome the "adaptive" mode to some is I tried it. I only used comfort, sport and sport + modes before this string started. What a yawner. I don't see what it does that so great. The car drives way better in sport or sport+ modes. I don't even know why BMW wasted their time with the "adaptive" mode. I never used it and don't plan on using it. Maybe they took it off because they learned that no one even used it and it cost money to build it.

Thank goodness some sense!
Had it in many a BMW and forgot about it!

We will have to agree to disagree on the advantages of using the Adaptive Mode. I have best of both worlds, great gas mileage and the car can engage Sport mode anytime I really need it.

PS, this is why it is called "Adaptive".

Can’t you get this without the Adaptive mode though? I just hit Eco/Comfort when I’m cruising and then Sport if I need more pep.

Also, does your car make a noise when you switch from comfort to sport? I didn’t notice it on my previous car (which didn’t have the adaptive suspension). It sounds like it’s coming from outside the car.

The beauty of using Adaptive Mode is you don't have to manually change your driving modes.

Regarding noise, if I stomp on the peddle you definitely can hear it.

This article explains the difference of the driving modes and what Adaptive Mode can do.
https://www.dubizzle.com/blog/cars/bmw-driving-modes/

"Adaptive driving mode automatically adjusts the car’s settings based on driving style, road conditions, and other factors. It uses sensors and algorithms to monitor and analyse driving behaviour. After that, it makes real-time adjustments to the car’s throttle response, transmission, steering, suspension, and other systems.

This BMW driving mode offers a versatile and adaptable driving experience, balancing performance and comfort depending on the driving conditions. It can adjust the car’s settings to provide a more relaxed ride in heavy traffic or on the highway or a more engaging and dynamic experience in high-performance driving situations."

Sorry. As far as noise, I mean that I hear like some clicking or something. Almost like the suspension or something is adjusting. It’s not exhaust noise or anything like that. Happens for like a second.

Hmm. I’ll have to try and record it. I was assuming it was something suspension related, but maybe I’m wrong.

I am usually blasting my HK sound system so loud that I wouldn’t hear it anyway!
