There were no changes from 2023 to 2024 as far as packages, options and colors. Only thing was a base price increase for 2024.

Living in Florida in the summer, especially the on we just had, top down is unbearable. My last four cars were convertibles. Actually it’s a .1 one owner with 11k miles and every option I would want.

That's quite a find. I'm sure you will enjoy it. I'd sell my Z4 for a 991.2 GTS cabriolet, if they were about $40k cheaper!

I dont have the Z4 yet its on order - but I did review lot of YT videos and research's and was not able to justify paying at least $30k - $40K more for comparable luxury and performance. So I am interested as well getting some real life feedbacks from someone who owned both

I sold my 997 C2S because of the potential for bore scoring and PDK failure. The most noticeable difference I found was the Z4 has much stronger low-end performance, but gets a little weak on the top-end. That's due to the turbo design. The 991.1 has the same engine, so it performs the same. You wouldn't have this with the 991.2 or 992. The 991.2S I drove would easily out-perform the Z4.

Ride and handling is another matter. The Z4 is more relaxed. Handling is very good, but not as crisp as a 997 or 991, ride is more forgiving. I can drive my Z4 a lot longer and not really get tired. The Z4 is easier to live with, by a little.

One thing I do not miss about my 997 is the tendency to drain the battery when left sitting for periods of time, especially if you don't lock it.

My observations are from somebody who is 80 years old. Yours may be a lot different.

The Z4 and Miata are strikingly different cars. I currently drive a Z4 s30i but drove Miatas for 10 years (2007 and 2012).

To me, the Z4 is a grand touring car on the sportier end of the GT spectrum. It handles and performs quite respectably while balancing comfort. Tuning and tweaking engine and handling can be done but it can get expensive quickly. Thankfully, little tuning or tweaking (suspension upgrade perhaps) is required to enjoy this car. The Z4 perfectly fits my current lifestyle needs but there was a time...

The Miata is a much more approachable roadster that can excel at autoX and twisties with little effort. Mazda has focused on making it as light as possible at the sacrifice of comfort. Engine performance is pretty lackluster out of the box but performance upgrades, including superchargers and turbochargers, are readily available (currently only up to 2018 model year) as are suspension and exhaust upgrades. Best of all, the average backyard mechanic can do most/all of the work himself because of the Miata's relatively simple design, no coding required. I installed a supercharger kit (as well as exhaust and suspension upgrades) in my 2007 Miata and it made a truly remarkable difference.

In addition to what StanDiego said, I had the Fiat 124 Abarth coming to the Z4. Same chassis as the current Miata, different body and Engine (1.4Turbo). I boosted the engine, wheels, shocks, sway bars, intake. It is surprisingly quick and most of all, nimble. However, while not quite as nimble, the Z4 has a lot more to offer, and doesn't compromise comfort for performance.

It's half the price of the Z4. And as much as I loved it, it is also half the car (YMMV). The Mazda entertainment system is no match for BMW; by a long shot. It's a 'snug fit'.

If your budget doesn't stretch to a Z4, the Miata is definitely a contender: have fun driving without worrying about the pocketbook.
