Vented/Cooled Seats?
Looking at the leaked pics looks like once again these won't have vented seats even though Boxster, F-Type, Audi, and Mercs do. Why is BMW hell bent on roasting my a$$?? Have they never ridden in a convertible when its warm out? I need cooling more than I need heated seats!!!

Looking at the dash. On the new X5 and others the seat cooling button is next to the seat heating button. I don't see any such button in the picks or an empty slot where it would go. I suppose there's always a chance....

I just looked at the picture of the X5 dash and I only see heated seat controls.

I hope Joshuastein55 is correct that the new Z4 will get ventilated seats, as well as some other things, like neck warmers...BUT I'm not holding my breath. As long as it's not raining, I drive with the top down, unless it's over 95F or under 40F.
My son in law had a 2009 X6 and he could get ventilated seats 10 years ago, but they've never been offered (as far as I can tell) ever on any Z4. BMW seems to have this policy of punishing owners if they don't buy a V8 or 7 series or X6 etc., by restricting very important technologies (advanced safety features) and design elements (eg., dual exhaust) from smaller vehicles. I can't understand the rationale for not allowing someone who buys an X1 or X3 not being able to get the same options for safety, comfort and looks as someone who buys an X5/X6. And perhaps BMW thinks that a single exhaust on a 4 cylinder engine is appropriate, all it does is make THEIR car look out of dated and ugly. Why should I have to buy a car that is WAY too big for my needs just to get the options that should be available across the line up of a LUXURY car brand. After 45+ years of BMWs, this is the number one thing I don't understand about their corporate philosophy.

I had a sneak peak a week ago with the new z4, and I hoped the hole in the seat would be something like's mercedes' airscarf, but it wasnt (at least not that model I saw, it was just a hole in the seat).
I know mercedes battles a patent legal case with someone for 20 years or so now so maybe bmw doesnt want to get involved.

I state the obvious here. Maybe they aren't offering this due to added weight. I realize the Porsche has the option for ventilated seats but BMW (probably) is doing this to keep down weight. I can't imagine the extra components required for this are lightweight.

I may be stating the obvious here, but I doubt BMW cares about weight THAT much.
The seat ventilation hardware weighs maybe OUNCES, tops. It's the COST that BMW care about.

My guess is the seats are new and it's going to be an option later or there is no room for required hardware. |

I need vented and/or cloth seats in my next car and that next car just might have to not be a BMW.

if someone can give me the last 7 of the VIN of any G29, I have written my own personal API to find other VINs which will allow me check to see which options have been installed on cars. This is how I have found 100 or so Supra VINs in BMW vin decoders from a leaked engine bay photo showing the VIN

I have owned 4 cars now with ventilated seats, 1 MB 1 Porsche and 2 BMW’s. None were worth a s&!t. They were all verts, and the funny thing is that it worked better with the top up.

I agree. I have a 2019 X5 and the "ventilated" seats are worthless when it comes to taking heat off your tush and back. BMW needs to implement a program of injecting cool air, not sucking room air into the seat perforations. At least that's my understanding how they work (or don't).

To my knowledge ventilated seats may be possible, but cooled seats require a good amount of space, so the Z4 will never get them as long as it remains in this size bracket, or unless it gets designed from the beginning with ventilated seats in mind.
Almost no roadster in this size bracket offers ventilated seats by the way. You mentioned Audi, but the TT doesn't have them. The F-Type does, but it's also larger. The only roadster from Mercedes right now is the SL which is humongous compared to the Z4, and even compared to the F-Type. The large size allows it to have ventilated seats, it's basically an E-class in roadster form. The only car in the Z4's class which has ventilated seats is the Boxster. I honestly feel for you, when I started out looking for a car I really wanted ventilated seats but it just seems like this option doesn't mix well with small cars. Combined with the fact that it's not a very popular option to begin with, especially on sports cars, I can see why BMW forewent it when they designed the Z4. Just a few things. Think the Z4 should have cooled seats. Gets hot in Carolina in the summer.
Have ventilated seats in the M4C, the new SUV has cooled seats, cooled are better. Dimensionally the Z4 & M4C front seat cockpit section are about the same size. My old 2007 SUV also had cooled seats which I recovered. I serviced the Peltier cooler while I has the skins off. Replaced the fans, similar to the fans on a tower gaming system. Units are not very big & would fit a Z4 seat. Hard to understand why I had these in a 2007 FORD & can't get them in a 2022 BMW
