I just bought a new 2024 iX (loving it!). I already had a BMW ID for my 2017 X1, which I traded in. That car didn’t do much with the BMW ID so my wife and I used the same one and used a shared email address for it.

When I set up the new iX, I used that same BMW ID for myself and set up a new one for my wife using her personal email address.

Now I’d like to change the email address for *my* BMW ID to use my personal email address (instead of the one shared with my wife). However, I am worried that this might somehow mess up my Electrify America or Shell Recharge accounts that are tied to this BMW ID.

Does anyone have experience with doing this? Any thoughts on issues that might pop up?

I can certainly leave it as is, but now my wife is getting emails for her BMW ID and mine because of the shared email account.

I haven't done a change like that so I cannot speak to how it will affect your EA account. My EA account is separate from my BMW ID and I never merged them into one app.

That said, if you go into the my BMW app and hit the account icon at the bottom of the screen, then select your name at the top of the new window, you get an option to edit your BMW ID and Password.
