Can US leases be taken abroad?

Hi everyone, I want to know if bmw financial leases can be taken outside the country (reside in USA). I’m thinking about potentially heading to UAE and would like to take both of my cars (540 & m340 with 2+ years on lease left) instead of just swapping the lease or selling the cars and then trying to get similar vehicles over there as I’m not privy to their deals. Has anyone done this? Of course I’m sure I can reach out to bmw financial but would like to know if anyone has done this and their experience was. Thanks!

It sounds like you want to steal the cars with the details you provided.

How so? I’d still be paying by my lease. I’d be going for a work project.

I think you have to buy the leases out.

On a lease or even financing you’d have to comply with insurance regulations for contract coverage through the financial institution you’re making payments to. If your insurance won’t cover UAE it right away that’s a no. Since it’s temp work doubt you’d be able to get insurance coverage for it. For example I can’t put my Z4 under storage insurance during winter while financed through the CU states right in contract must maintain full coverage. Best to read your contract paperwork including the fine print.

Seems like a ridiculous amount of effort for two common cars for presumably a limited time, assuming it’s not for reasons like you suggested

Thanks for the advice. Will be reaching out to bmwfs. I just got both vehicles to the exact spec I wanted I don’t want to wait to order anything new. I’m leaning towards buying out the leases.

If you get a loan to buy out the leases, also make sure the finance company or bank will let you take the cars out of the country. Military service members used to have this issue when reassigned overseas because the fine print in many standard finance contracts did not allow you to take the vehicle out of the US.

I assume the car would need different fluids to withstand UAE climate?

Texas and UAE temperatures are comparable and they don't use special fluids for cars shipped to Texas. I'd take UAE temperatures over the summer-time heat and humidity in a place like Houston, Texas any day.
